I Work With...

A guy who punched Billy Ray Cyrus in the face in high school, and the brother of pro golfer Kenny Perry (both are engineers, both are nice guys). Ho hum…

Who are some of your mundane pointless coworkers?

Sir Rhosis

My parents went to school with the Zucker brothers.

I went to school with the daughter of (didn’t know her, but knew of her, just like she probably knew of me) and lived (my parents still do) across the street from Genises guitarist Daryl Stermer

I work with a guy who used friends with Stephen King’s kids. Apparently King’s house is quite bizzare; to get to the bathroom, you have to go up some stairs, through some hallways, around some crap, down some stairs, and then it’s on your right. Hope nobody ever gets diarrhea. He says King’s kids are, quote, “cool as shit”, but King himself is odd and reclusive.

Go figure.

Used to be friends. :smack:

There are slim pickin’s for the brush-with-fame in my office. My boss’s family appeared, in a thinly-disguised fashion, in a Susan Musgrave novel. I haven’t read it.

We’re very boring.

Oh, also, my best friend’s mom is good friends with David Baldacci. I’ve been with them to his house for dinner, though I didn’t know who he was at the time. Nice guy.

Hell, all my coworkers have been boring. I did work with a lady whose husband worked for Disney (some executive or something) and they were treating him like shit. We all knew it anyway: Disney is evil. Another coworker’s husband was in some '70s musical group, and now he’s a bit actor that I occasionally see on advertisements.

I’ve had more brushes with fame than my coworkers, if you want to know that truth. However, if you want to ask about fellow students from college, that’s a different story. A friend from pottery class worked as a costume designer for Bette Midler for many years, designed one of her more famous costumes (mermaid?). Remember Ted Bessel, who was Marlo Thomas’s boyfriend in That Girl? He was in my pastel drawing class. Giovani Ribisi’s mom was a fellow student in a pottery class, and she brought her daughter—an actress—to class with her too. Another pottery friend works on multiple TV shows, and is most known for working on the Star Trek (the newer ones) series, doing some sort of alien prop stuff or something. The list of interesting fellow students goes on. And on!

I was an extra in a TV show myself once (I threw pottery on a potter’s wheel). Woo.

I work with a girl who used to live across the street from Slipknot. Actually, across the street from the place one of the guys lived that they practiced at.

One of my co-workers was born on Bob Denver (aka Gilligan)‘s bed. Her mother was Denver’s kids’ live-in nanny. She chose to have the baby naturally and at home.

Faye Dunaway’s brother was our lawyer at one of my former jobs. And one of my old high school teachers is Jon Bon Jovi’s godmother. That’s about it for my brushes with the famous.

I didn’t work with this guy, but I was his professor. Son of a somewhat-important Pittsburgh Penguins coach and one time bantam all star hockey player.

Unfortunately due to educational confidentiality issues, I can’t name the kid or his dad.

Usta work with Demi Moore’s Mom. (Virginia’s passed on, now)

I work with a girl who went on one (1) date with Theo Huckstable. (sp?)

I used to work with the father of Al Murray - a well-known comedian (the Pub Landlord).

There was a girl here in the office for a time who’s uncle was the manager for the Eagles. I was good friends in Jr High with a guy who was Tom Clancy’s nephew.

I used to work for a company run by two brothers whose grandmother was Miss Daisy from “Driving Miss Daisy”. The screenplay was written by their uncle and the Oscar he won for the screenplay was prominently posted in the executive office area.

My coworker’s brother draws pencil portraits of famous politicians, and presents them with the picture whenever he’s in their vicinity. This way he’s met Kissinger, Clinton, and two days ago he met Jesse Jackson. He also has a lot of letters of gratitude from very famous movers and shakers, including George Bush Snr., and Sir Edmund Hilary.

I work with a guy who went to high school with Matthew McConaughey in Longview, Texas.

My Dad went to Junior College with Fess Parker.

I once drove by Hakeem Olajuwon’s house and he was walking down the street! I waved. He didn’t.

One of my coworker’s is the brother-in-law of sportscaster Bob Papa (very nice hook-up for football tickets :)).

I went to high school with former NJ Devil and Stanley Cup champion Jim Dowd (don’t know how he is now, but he was fricking prick 'n a half in high school).
