My wife used to babysit Jon Benet Ramsey.
I grew up with Aaron McGruder, author of the Boondocks. (well, actually his brother was my age, and we hung out together - Aaron was a couple years younger)
I also work with a lot of famous musicians, but I’m in the music business, so that’s not too weird.
I usd to work for a gal whose father went to school with and was still buddies with Tom Robbins (Even Cowgirls Get the Blues). As I was reading a number of his books at the time, I was seriously impressed…I was disturbed to find out he was 50 (this was some years ago), when that seemed way too old to be cool. I reflect upon this now as 50 bears down on me…27 days and counting…

I work in Public Relations and my team opened Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede here in Mickeyville. We scored six segments with Al Roker of Today show fame for the opening with Dolly. I didn’t actually get to meet either of them but my team members did.
In junior college, on the other hand, I was a classmate of Andy Kaufman.
A long time ago when I was a waitress in Kansas City, a guy named Bob something who claimed to be the manager for Brewer and Shipley* stole a penny from me. It was a mis-struck penny that was probably worth thousands of dollars.
*Either Brewer or Shipley actually came into the restaurant one time with him.
I saw Tony Bennett in the lobby. Does that count?
And I worked with a woman whose roommate was dating Cat Stevens. When he was still Cat Stevens. The woman I worked with didn’t really like him, from what I gather.
Oh and the bratty kid that used to live behind me is now a recurring on Guiding Light. He still looks pretty bratty.
My aunt sold her house to the pitcher for the Atlanta Braves. I have no idea what his name was.
I work with a guy who went to high school with Bruce Springsteen. They weren’t close friends, but they did know each other and hang out on occasion, from what he’s told me.
I worked with Jerry Rice’s wife (Jackie) for their charity for a while.
I also work with a bunch of doctors who either think they are God or that they know her personally.
Now, these are a bit tenuous.
My grandfather was a share-cropper on Al Gore’s daddy’s farm.
My boss’s son has done some artwork for Marilyn Manson.
A stodgy corporate attorney at a former employer’s was one of the original members of Sha-Na-Na. He refuses to say which one, because he was embarrassed about his past.
At this same firm, a co-worker’s mom was one of Chaka Khan’s backup singers.
At a place I used to work Kevin Bacon’s sister was the Vice President of Investor Relations. Consequently, my Bacon number is pretty low these days.
And we know you so our number is pretty low too. Thanks.

My dad was a junior high P.E. teacher and he taught Del Rogers and the bassist from the band Ugly Kid Joe. My mom was a dental hygenist and she used to clean Mare Winningham’s (lady from Turner and Hooch) teeth. My brother in law was a bartender in San Francisco and used to hand out with the guys from Red Hot Chili Peppers and went on a date with Jenny McCarthy. I’ve never even met anyone famous before!
