I Work With...

A few of my former co-workers include two governors and the son of a Supreme Court Justice. I’ve also answered the telelphone and had the other person say, “Hello, this is William Webster (former director of both the FBI and the CIA), may I speak to X, please?”

You learn to put some calls through REALLY quickly.

One of the guys I work with lost his girlfriend to a NASCAR racer last year. She’s still with him, as I recall (but I can’t remember his name.) Another guy hangs out with the DeWalt driver when he’s in town or close-by.

People I went to high school with:
Bruno Samartino’s son (and my Dad and Bruno worked contruction together in the '50s.);
A guy who played defense for the Bills (think Dark Helmet);
A woman who graduated from Johns Hopkins and is now a doctor for the Ravens;
A woman who writes a whole butt-ton of children’s books;
A guy who writes a whole butt-ton of computer programming books;
A guy who was in a Chicago video around 1984 or 85.

And I had a class with Dan Marino while we were both in college (but he was two years ahead of me.)

During my writing days, I interviewed a bunch of major label musicians. I even keep in touch with a few of them.

My GF’s daughters went to high school with a guy who was a Power Ranger and is now on some crappy WB show. They made me watch the season premiere. I was saddened to see that this is where Moira Kelly ended up. :: pouting smilie ::

Oh yeah. I was Pat DiNizio’s roadie for two solo concerts on a friend’s front porch.

I used to work and carpool with Vivian Vance’s younger sister. This was back in the 80s. She was fun, but she didn’t really have any new Lucy stories. Just confirmed the ones everyone already knows.

My boss is the nephew of Vito Genovese.

I once met a grandson of Admiral Halsey, and used to work for a former Olympian and a former college basketball player – well, I dunno if he was a star, but he had a decent reputation, or so I was told.

A kid from my neighborhood has grown up to be a concert promoter, producing shows at major venues. When we were kids I enjoyed hanging out with him, but he always seemed to have this too-cool-for-you attitude.

One of my best friends from high school went trick-or-treating at Richard Nixon’s house in New Jersey (back when he was still warm and relatively pink, that is).

And one of my former high school English teachers used to play backup guitar for the Greatful Dead.

Tripler
I knew a guy who knows a guy, who used to date this girl, who once sneezed on Dick Butkus. Don’t ask how that conversation came up . . .

When I worked for the US Navy, I saw The King of Greece and Princess Grace of Monaco when they visited our ship, and I saw the Pope in his window on Easter.

Same job-as I visited the shrine of the Nativity in Bethlehem, dipped my hand in the River Jordan, swam in the Dead Sea,walked in the Garden of Gethsemane among 2000-year- old olive trees, stopped at the Stations of the Cross on the Via Dolorosa, and visited the shrine at Golgotha, I felt His presence.
