Ice cubes

Recipe.

One review says:

This recipe is horrible! Maybe I should have left them in longer than two minutes (the recipe doesn’t say how long to leave them in the freezer so I just kind of guessed) but mine came out all watery. I won’t be making these again.

Wrong link. Here’s the link to the recipe.

I’ve asked a mod to edit the OP.

Some funny stuff there. It made me want to invite them over to join this board.

I actually like to make a bunch at one time that I can just freeze them and defrost for when I need them.

I hear you can make this stuff a lot more quickly if you start with hot water…

Can I make them in the microwave if I set the power level really low?

I’ve seen people on Pinterest leave them frozen and put them in brightly colored drinks. Looks great after they instragram the picture.

Is there a gluten free version?

I have to take issue with calling the results of this recipe ice CUBES. They most certainly don’t have 6 equal faces, so calling them cubes is disingenuous. May I suggest instead calling them ice solids? That way even if your tray is not the same shape as mine, we don’t have to call them different things. Lets get this sorted before this recipe becomes too popular and momentum is too hard to stop.

I replaced half the water with cornstarch to try and thicken it up a bit and it was terrible. Two Stars.

I wonder if you can use dehydrated water?

I’d love to try this recipe, but ever since our refrigerator was delivered the space in the freezer where I would put the trays while the water froze has been filled with a bin full of these half-moon shaped things. They’re really cold. Anyway, I don’t have any room to make this recipe. I should probably call the manufacturer.

The recipe clearly says Cook Time: 2 hours.

But when I cooked mine for 2 hours (I guessed 350 degrees as that is the most common temperature) all the water was gone and my trays were melted.

I added 16 cloves of garlic to the recipe (my family LOVES garlic!) and I substituted the water with gasoline, my kids didn’t like them, but husband thought they were GREAT! He did have to go to the hospital after he exploded when lighting a cigarette after dinner, but I will definitely try these again.

You idiot! You made dehydrated ice! Just add it to your drink for a refreshing, if somewhat toxic, beverage. Store the rest in a plastic bag

These are OK I guess but just way to difficult to eat with a fork.

I cooked my to an internal temperature of 0F, but after I let them thaw for a couple of hours, I found that they were still raw. What did I do wrong?

Use chopsticks for ice, you philistine!

I made them and they were okay but a little bland. I added a bit of salt to bring out the flavor. Something…went wrong.

I agree with Joey P. Whenever I’ve tried to make them, they’ve come out having a very thin, disappointing, watery flavor. I’ve tried reducing the ingredients in a saucepan before freezing, but that doesn’t seem to improve the flavor.
