We got home from the park earlier than usual.
Zeus and Jax wanted to play with Ripple, but they got there later than usual and Ripple was played out. They are too tall to get under the table with him, so Jax stands there barking at him, while Zeus runs around the table barking at him.
You’d think Jax and Zeus would play with each other, but no, they want Ripple to come out and play.
I came very close to landing on my face when Blaze and Lily slammed into me today.
It was a very busy and chaotic day at the park.
We’ll pick up the groceries around 2ish, and I have to remember to get gas on the way.
Brent has dumped a bunch of stuff on me that *should *make for a fairly easy turn-around, but, naturally, that ain’t necessarily the case. Still beats a sharp stick in the eye, tho!
I already told everyone that tonight is grab-whatever for supper. Tomorrow I’ll make the meatloaf, but tonight, we can forage. Last night’s leftover chicken might become chicken salad, and there’s tons of lunch meats. So probably sammiches.
I don’t think I mentioned - daughter had her first faculty meeting yesterday. The school, grades 6-12, has a total enrollment of 44 students. Her pre-algebra class has 11 - she’ll be teaching a quarter of the student body!!! Plus some of them will repeat in her lit classes. She’s really excited about teaching there. I’m happy for her. She really is a good teacher, and without the idiocy of state-mandated BS, she can teach the material rather than to standardized tests. Huzzah!!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Gordie has been combating The Invisible Mole People for 4 hours straight. I shall go to the laundromat for some peace and quiet.
The main reason I pulled my son out of school and home schooled him for a year was because of ‘teaching for the test’.
The first school he went to was really small, no more than 10 students per class and there were about 70 students for grades 1-12. The 5th, 6th, and 7th grade was taught in the same class because there were only about 8 of them.
I was sorry he had to leave the smaller school, even though it was religious, but he had dyslexia and they didn’t have the resources to teach him.
Just don’t do like az really good friend did when that happened at Da Jungle. We’ll call him Scott because that was his name and he was guilty as Hell but -------- the second he hit the INSIDE of the door the cigarette and lighter came out from shear force of habit.
Safety Boss and two firemen almost wrestled him to the ground for that one.
I only had to spend anhour in the heat ,with a lunatic Jack russell. Bonus: A new neighbor came over and let her JRT into the dog park ,so they barked each other senseless.
It’s hot outside, 90 feels like 95.
Also looks like it is going to rain any second now.
I’m glad we got the groceries in and don’t have to go back out.
My son has agreed that we should go to the Mexican restaurant tomorrow while Ripple is at day care. Not only that, Mr Picky Eater says he wants to try something different this time.
I wonder how long it will take for us to feel the effects of hell freezing over?
Yes MetalMouse, Blaze and Lily are dogs. Blaze is short for TrailBlazer, a 4 month old coon hound mix who was found with his litter that had been dumped in the woods in TN. Lily is a black lab mix who refuses to drink the water at the park. She is easy to spot because she has a white chest, unlike Charlie, Pappy, and Black Jack, who are black lab mixes and are hard to tell apart.
Irritating news about Mollie, another black mix. I hadn’t seen her for a while and it seems her owner had to find another place for her. Her owner has been living in the same apartment for 4 years, dog friendly, dog was on the lease. Some assholes moved into another apartment in the building and the little crybabies are afraid of dogs, so management told Mollie’s owner that she had to get rid of Mollie or move out. What kind of person moves into a dog friendly apartment complex and then bitches about the dogs? What kind of management gives into that crap?
I have stuff I need to do, but since I woke at 5am, my bed is looking real good right now.
Had the beekeeping group honey harvest day today, which is sticky, complicated, but kinda tasty. Plan is to try take honey off my hive before Sunday gulp. I’m really not looking forward to it; last time I harvested honey it was fine, but these bees ain’t fine.
Anyway, I should have an early night, I need to start pushing my mornings a bit earlier. I’ve kinda been on student summer time for a while.
Sari I once moved into a dog friendly house then bitched like hell about the dogs, but only because after I moved in the crazy housemate uh… acquired… another dog then refused to train it, allowing it to bite, run out in the the road when the door was open, and crap in the house. At which point the other 2 dogs also started crapping in the house.
Home from the monsoon. Clear as a bell in my hood. We are having breakfast for supper. I just re-upped our jam, jelly and preserves supply and it arrived today. Yummy stuff from RobertIsHere.com located in Homestead. The cranberry preserves is to die for. I got a large assortment this time cause hubs handed over the plastic.
I had a shortish day as I overslept and was an hour late plus monsoon. I left a few minutes early too to beat the storms. There will be no use or lose this year. My boss is cool about my comings and goings but once he is gone in a few weeks I may have to adhere to an actual schedule- the horror.
I am considering changing Buddy’s name to Rowdy Yates. Anyone know who that was/is? He is Rowdy. I bought a pair of elbow length gardening leather gloves for play time. Trying to teach “ no biting”but this is just in case. Arms look like I ran through a briar patch.house training is coming along nicely.
We took FCD’s folks to Olive Garden, since they really like that place (no accounting for taste…) It stormed on our way home, and as we got closer to home, there were several broken trees, including one across the road. Luckily, there was a quick and easy detour.
There are a couple of branches down in our yard, but nothing of significance, so yay for that.
Howdy Y’all! I laundered then lounged today. So productivity and sloth. Always a good combo. Taco (OLÈ!) Tuesday was tasty if’n I do say so myself. And that’s all the news from swampland.
baker, my uncles who served in Korea were pretty much of the same opinion. Like northern Indiana, colder than a MF in the winter and hot as billy blue hades in the summer.
Have a good trip cookie!
Happy anniversary gotti!
Glad y’all didn’t 'splode doggio.
I have volunteered to train an inventory accuracy specialist in a department that I reconcile. The current one is three months into the job and, as the Peter principle dictates, continues to go into positions for which she is highly unqualified. Her brother is a senior manager at our Ragland facility (formerly worked in ours) and her 70 year old dad works on the weekends and does a great job. Rhonda on the other hand, has worked in quite a few departments, usually beginning at entry level (including ours) and sucks just badly enough that a supe won’t write her up so s/he can get rid of her when she’s bored. She’s fouled up inventory in her current department from great to sucks in three months. I want a hand in training her replacement. Fortunately, Rhonda’s predecessor will be doing the primary training and she used to be one of my colleagues.
Tomorrow, I’ll be busy, but manageable. I look for the old bat to be out sometime in the next week for a couple of days. Her big department left her with a lot of counts and she knows that if it looks like she won’t get them done, she knows that the weekend guy and I will be asked to catch her up. Oy!
Enough bitching. I’m fixing to do KP and work on a personal project in the studio this evening.
