Ice water & other missed things in the MMP

(Hey, it’s well into Moanday for me.)

I get to go home this week, despite a 24-hourish day & three continents my plan is to stop at the bar & get a big glass of ice water. Oh how I’ve missed that soooo much. I’m serious! I loves me some ice water. However, the water isn’t safe to drink, & since ice is made from water that’s a no-go. It’s special to even get a refrigerated drink, & even then it’s only slightly cooled off, not really chilled. Didja know, warm soda sucks!

…& the pup. There are a ton of stray dogs; however, I has been warned do not interact with them, some can even have rabies. There are some cute ones, & even some that are obviously friendly. A few times I even saw a pet dog being walked on a leash. However, they always turned off (back into their gated apartment complex) before I got close to them. I can’t wait to see the pooch & give her whaps & skritches & have her curl up in my lap.

Pre-hijack question - what do you miss when you travel?
From last week -
Nut, I mulled over having some wine once, but then sat down with Jack instead.

RustingRata ½-hr for Creaky Barrel? Is there nowhere else to get sustance? That place ain’t that good to be worth that kinda wait.

If you couldn’t be a Deacon, could you be a beacon? What happens when you put a lightbulb in your mouth? Ooh, ooh, I know, you could be the bell tower; you’d come complete with your own bats! :stuck_out_tongue:

Speaking of church, I went to one on Sat; the second tallest church in Asia. From the pictures I thought it was more of a cathedral. When I walked up I noticed something. Up in the sky, above the spires there were boids circling around. You know what kind of boids circle around, en masse, up in the sky? Vultures! Yup, I took that as an omen & didn’t stay.

Midget didja say hi to my fiends? Mebbe next year I’ll make it up there again.
Her fiend is a Cheesehaid; parents house was destroyed by a tornader last month. Luckily the barn/cows survived (they’re dairy farmers) & there is another house on the property for them to live in. This weekend the Amish neighbors were cleaning up from the storm & cutting down trees when a limb fell on a teen & killed him. NOT a good summer in that area.
Time to get moooving…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 77 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 88 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for the day. We shall see. Today’s agenda includes gettin’ the oil changed in OYKW’s vehicle and defilthyfycation of da cave. Tonight is men’s night over to the church house so that takes care of sup. I shall be at the Ford place right around seven and hopefully be first in line when the service department opens at seven-thirty. Then I shall take OYKW his vehicle and drive twuck back to da cave bein’ as he shall use twuck to get to irk. If all goes accordin’ to plan I will be out of the Ford place a little after eight. Might even just have myself a McBrekkie this mornin’.

Ummm… I’m supposed to have a topic, right? OK, I really don’t but nonetheless here is the new MMP. Do with it what you will!

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Swampy, ya needs more coffee.

The weather looks faintly more reliable today, so I shall be heading out shortly to do errands like pay council tax (boo), pick up my new laptop charger from the post office (hope it works, this one is held together by wishful thinking), and go check the bees (fingers crossed for them having larvae).

I don’t tend to miss much except having a good shower when travelling. I spent two years living out of a backpack at various points, as well as a few month+ long trips. Having said that, one thing I weirdly missed when on long trips is, well, arguing with people, I guess? Moving round backpacker hostels every few days, I met loads of people, but as it’s only going to be a few days until you leave, you may have a great time hanging round with them, but you don’t have any kind of friendship base to disagree but still stay friends. You disagree, one or both of you move on and you never see each other again. People I’ve known who carried on with that sort of thing for too long without settling at all often have the worst conflict resolution skills, as their response to any problem is just running away, because while travelling around, that works fine.

I stayed up way too late last night watching I Am Patrick Swayze - I don’t usually get into celeb stuff, but I found the show really interesting. He had quite a life.

But, alas, the show ran till 11, and I was struggling to stay awake for the last half hour. Naturally, I woke just before 5. Dammit. But I’m up, critters have been tended to, dishwasher is loaded, and I’ve breakfasted. In a few minutes, I need to get **FCD **up - he’s got to leave in about an hour. Daughter has her first faculty meeting today and SIL is scheduled to work, so I have Roxy-and-in-law-duty. Plus I need to scrub the smoker.

As for traveling, I hate that I can’t do my laundry conveniently. It’s not a big deal for less than a week, but longer than that, both packing and keeping track of what clean stuff is left is more than I like to deal with. When my mom and I took our 4-week cruise, there were pay washers and dryers aboard, so halfway thru, I was able to run a couple of loads for us. But monitoring a public laundry area isn’t a lot of fun. Apart from that, I do OK. Unless we end up in a place with really firm mattresses - that kills my back and I find I pine for my own bed.

That won’t be an issue, tho, for at least another year - no vacations for us.

Happy Moanday!

I miss the dog when I go on vacation.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. Short day, then gonna be down in the dumps.

Spidey, that is horrible about your fiend.:frowning:

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. Be intresting to see where this post ends up in the merged MMP.

I was thinking the same thing. Looks like the Bear needs an eye exam? Or was this just great minds thinking alike?

He’s a geezer and he’s losing it. Be patient. :stuck_out_tongue:

International travel its about the same as you; ice cold being actually ICE COLD! Ice cold beer in Germany was what I would call a barely chilled Porter for God’s sake and don’t get me started on Slovakia. Sheesh! Forget England altogether; I believe that was the actual reason behind the Revolution.
Other than that got a call from the dealership and our loaner finally came home again and the people returned our GPS ----- or they just never saw it. So I will shortly head up and collect it. Yeah me!

I really don’t miss all that much on vacation…doing too much while on it.

Up about 0630, need to get some clothes on and water the front yard while it’s still not too hot, then do a little shopping and such before starting the Fall soccer practices (now have all three teams assigned, so I have to remember 34 names this week…oh joy.

spidey, I have a list of Sunday ‘eatin’ out’ places I go to, and it was Cracker Barrel’s turn–plus I got to sit in a rocking chair drinking root beer from a bottle, so it wasn’t all bad.

OK, off to increase my water bill. Good morning all y’all on another MMP.

Moderator Note

We had two MMPs, so they have been merged. Expect the usual confusion.

I am confused. Blurf Happy New Week.

Wasn’t sure which fiends were yours. Maybe I can say hi if I go again.

As if anyone would notice…

Roxy is napping, daughter is at faculty meeting, **FCD **is at Webster Field, SIL is in his cave, I’m lunching with the inlaws… sorta… they’re watching Space Cowboys and I"m playing here.

Go back to the broken and crime infested thread from which you came!

Clearly he doesn’t read/know us. The usual confusion is basically just another day in the MMP!

That would be any thread in “Elections”. :stuck_out_tongue:

I miss my pets and my family, but I always enjoy someone else doing the cooking and cleaning, and being able to choose my own entertainment without a production and a vote on the senate floor. It’s not original, but I used to say, “I like to go and I like to come back.”

Movers today. I am dreading it and excited for it. (Dread mostly because I’m having a bad run for my head and I’m not sure how I’m going to get through this.)

Happy Moanday.

Happy Moonday!

Home from the park, it’s going to be hot today.

I’m feeling a bit grumpy.

I need to wash clothes today, and am irking long hours as today is the last day expected to be busy.
I should order groceries sometime today to pick up tomorrow since Toosday is SC discount day.

I don’t miss anything when I travel because I don’t travel. I prefer to stay home, and ideally everybody else will go away. Except for now it is just my son and me, and the critters, and they are okay to be around.
Most of the time.

After today I have to get busy around here and get back to the dreaded ToDo List.

I can’t believe that the leaves are starting to change already, another summer is almost over.

SIL had a quick day, and he’s got Roxy now. In laws are messing with their calendar - you’d think after 70 years, they’d be all bickered out, but they’re not. I just came back from a quick grocery run. I meant to stop for peaches, but I was well past the market when I remembered. Maybe tomorrow.

It’s hot and humid and I’m glad I’m inside.

Howdy, Just want to go on the record and say “Hot Pockets” suck. How does anyone eat this?

Sent an email to the vet re boarding BuddyBoy at the end of the month. I have no idea how much it costs but I don’t guess it matters. I think I would be more calm leaving him with them vice a neighbor. He is not fully house trained but is coming along nicely. Puppies go often. Real often.

Almost 3PM. I shall think about heading out around 4ish. Supper shall be leftovers from yesterday so that is sorted. Tahred.
