ID for a Swashbuckler-movie-style music riff?

From a rough approximation, whistled here?

The tune just kind of popped into my head this evening, and I know I’ve heard it in movie trailers before, with a lot of brass—but I can’t happen to find any them at the moment.

It feels a lot like something Erich Korngold might have written for an Errol Flynn movie, but none of the samples I’ve heard online (like from Captain Blood or The Sea Hawk) seem to match up. It might be a more recent composer like John Williams, or even just be from a stock music library, but I’m at a loss for anything beyond a guess.

Can anyone help?

Sounds a bit like the theme from Willow (skip to about 22 seconds in).

The best I’ve come up with is the Robin Hood Prince of Thieves main theme, which has become Disney’s theme for its opening Sleeping Beauty Castle logo animation.

Heh—would you believe that was my first thought, too?

But, as it happens, I just found a clean-ish sample of the tune! Here.

And it may have come from “MusicLoops.com” or “Proscores,” but I haven’t had any success in searching either of those. :frowning:

Holy cow that sounds really familiar. But if it’s a soundloop/royalty-free stock theme, it would, because they’re made to sound almost-like stuff.

My first thought was Galaxy Quest, but nope, that’s not it. Similar but not it.

And BTW I’m very much doubting it’s of the Erich Korngold era. It’s more late '70s - '90s sci-fi / adventure theme, faux John Williams, as you mention.
