I'd rather pay someone to do that in the MMP

Roxy was cough-y today and had a bit of a fever this afternoon. Toby also had a slightly elevated temp. So SIL will take them for COVID tests in the morning. Fingers crossed, since I was exposed to both of them today.

Daughter had a wisdom tooth pulled. I found it interesting - our dentist sent FCD elsewhere for the extraction, but the dentist my daughter went to see (for the first time today) yanked it right out for her. Do some dentists not do extractions? My last dentist in FL removed my wisdom teeth herself. 'Tis a puzzle…

We went to Bob Evans for supper. I don’t recommend it, but it filled a void. Now it’s time for chillage.

depends on how easy it is to remove it … my top wisdom tooth was pulled out by my dentist as soon as the anesthetic took hold

but the bottom one required an oral surgeon and had to have the top layer of my gum removed and then the tooth was smashed with a hammer and chisel and scraped out … took about 2 hours in all

Yikes!

I’ve got a regular dentist appt on Thursday, but I’m not expecting anything exciting. I gots me some good choppers!

yeah, it grew in crooked but never broke the gum line and started to hurt very badly … if I ever can go back in to the dentist I’m due for months of work

Moooooom, it depends upon the dentist. The extractions that I’ve had have always been done by my dentist de jour, but about half the root canals (4 total) were done by an endodontist because the regular DDS didn’t do them.

Howdy Y’all! We laundered, slothed, napped, and et sup. Quite the busy day for us!

{{{sunny}}} just seems like you need a hug.

{{{Wordy}}} for the same reason. If this is the end for your friend, I hope her passing is peaceful.

MOOOOOOM hope all the dental patients are doin’ well. I gather FCD is since he chowed down.

I’m back. My laptop crashed–literally/ I had a nightmare last weekend and decided to watch some episodes of Frasier to soothe myself back to sleep. It worked, but the computer crashed to the floor. Everything was OK except for some keys on the right side of the keyboard, like Delete, plus the spacebar. The closest Apple store is 30 miles away, and they’re not taking appointments now, so I spent $130 for Uber and train to get there, and luckily, they got me in. They think it’s the logic board. My choice was $600 for a new one or $100 for a bluetooth keyboard. I opted for the latter. It’s hard being this far from the screen, but I’ll adjust.

I took an Uber from the mall to the Tacoma Amtrak station. At least that was the plan, but the driver was mad at me for being around the corner from shere the app said I was, and he dumped me by an Amtrak sign that was NOT the station. I said it didn’t look familiar, but he said it was as close as he could get me. It turned out to be about 8 blocks through a sketchy neighborhood away from the station. Between Google Maps and a helpful drugged-out homeless guy, I eventually found it.

Butters, congrats on the house.

Sunny, hope you feel better.

I’ve probably missed some posts, but I’ll catch up.

Since I’m an apartment dweller, I guess in effect, I pay people to mow the grass and do maintenance. I have a cleaning lady who’s also become a good friend. Now that I can see better, I could probably do without her, but she’s very good at it and needs the money, plus her rates are cheap.

And oh, yeah, I paid someone to diagnose my laptop.

Nothing to be sorry for. That’s what we’re here for. Loved the picture.

Evening all. Did stop by the AT&T store, the nice lady helped me a bit but their rates ($100/month) are a bit pricey IMHO, so dropped by Wal-Mart, where a guy who really doesn’t work in the Electronics area answered a few more of my questions and the comparison rates were much better. Have to do a little more research but I’m leaning that way.

Also bought some new plastic/acrylic glasses (cheap) and when I got home the 4 bigger ones apparently had been nesting together for months, because I could not get them apart. Used the ‘ice in one, hot water on the others’ to try and separate them, and that seemed to work (after banging them on the countertop…). So they are all in the dishwasher waiting for the next cycle.

nellie, Yikes! I hope you gave the driver the rating he deserved. And glad you and your laptop are back with us.

Had my wisdom teeth pulled by an specialist, not my dentist, and those are the only ones I’ve parted with so far. Shady, I winced just reading what they had to do with your tooth to extract it.

FCM, hope the kids just have one of the 40-50 usual things kids get and not COVID.

Unknown, regarding the quiting questions; no good deed…

Sari, hope the dog park trips remain without drama.

{{{Oopsie}}}. My dad passed away when I was 7,000 miles away, it must be harder to be closer but not close enough. Hoping that your friend recovers.

Usually means leadership is planning to execute somebody because of their (leadership’s) screwups. Take care.

Ok, onward into the night. Everyone take care now.

nellie Glad you made it through the dicey neighborhood.

Thanks, y’all for the support. It’s helping.

Send them to me! Address on request.

Break them into freeform meatballs and then do what you will: over pasta, with gravy over mashed, in BBQ sauce over noodles…whatever.

Thanks, all. I was feeling pretty out of sorts when I posted before.

The work day ended on a much more positive note, after a phone conversation with a program manager who I have finally admitted (to myself) that I have a crush on. {sigh} I met him ~3 years ago, when I was the proposal manager on one of his task order recompetes, and we seemed to click. His program is in the same business unit as mine — he and my current boss are peers — and our paths cross every now and then. Right now I’m helping him with a task order proposal response. Sometimes it feels like the work stuff is just an excuse for us to chat, even though in reality I’m sure he’s out of my league (very cute, very smart, single, coaches HS and college rugby, etc.). Still, I like to imagine that someday he’ll come to one of my shows and afterwards we’ll wind up talking for hours…

(He knows about my jazz festival show next month, but will be out of town on business…he does keep saying how much he wishes he could go… )

Aw heck, I’m not willin’ to arm-wrestle BBBoo: she can have my meatloaf.

There’s plenty of meatloaf, trust me. Seems I’ve never quite gotten the hang of cooking for less than a dozen, and we’re a two-person household. Good thing DH thinks some things are better as leftovers :).

Thanks~though I’d rather have tickets to your show! Will there be YouTube glimpses for us country rubes?

report his ass uber hates crap like that

I always discourage any recording of my shows, but I won’t be surprised if some clips find their way to YouTube! I’m not ready to be “unmasked” on the Dope, but I could PM you if I wind up seeing anything I like.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

[Ken Jeong]I knew it! You’re J-Lo![/Ken Jeong]
But good luck on the show!

Somehow I doubt “We couldn’t fit 70 package cars woth of stuff in 42 package cars, let’s sack the do everthing guy in a diffrent department” would fly under the CBA.
But that does remind me of one of Steve Logan’s favorite story about a press conference after a blowout football game:
Reporter: “What do you think about your team’s execution tonight?”
Coach: “I’m in favor of it!”
nellie, I’d report that driver to Uber. That crap ain’t cool.

There’s a whole lotta that (work crushes) goin’ around the MMP these days. I think Metal Mouse has one, too?

I blame the pandemic and lockdowns. No other way to really meet folks these days.

We got two new guys at work recently who are both 1a.) competent hard workers, and 2b.) very easy on the eyes. They are never getting rid of my ass now!
Plus, one is a redhead. I’ve always had a thing for redheads.
Whoever is doing the hiring - thumbs up!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 43 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 63 and N.O.S. for the day. We shall procure provisions today. We have also decided to do the geezer late N.O.L./early sup thing at the hog trough Golden Corral. This is the grumpy old men equivalent to a night on the town. Other than that the usual sloth/nappage/chillage shall prevail.

Nellie YIKES! Glad you made it through the dicey 'hood. I hope you reported that Uber driver. As doggio said, that ain’t cool!

shoe since you have to irk, it’s kinda nice to at least have some eye candy to look at.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, since I am to go out and about the public, I suppose, bother of bothers, I should purtify and don appropriate attire. How I do suffer!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!
