I'd rather pay someone to do that in the MMP

How much room do you have in your freezer? Meatloaf usually freezes very well.

I just learned that our housekeeper didn’t listen to me about watching GG around water, so had to do the bathroom floors twice.

We (me) have asked her to be sure that all of the blue stuff is flushed so she leaves the lid open until her last walk around to be sure she doesn’t need to flush again. GG just LOVES open toilets, he’s big enough now to be able to stand on the floor and be able to get both front feet into water flinging action.

I don’t think she will forget again.

Hubs fills and drains the rarely used bathtub in the back bathroom once a month to help keep the drains clear. So far he’s never remembered to close the bathroom door but never thinks to get a pic of our swimming cat before grabbing GG up and yelling at me to bring towels. As long as we are going to be washing all the towels in the house, I think GG should be allowed to swim to his content before getting grabbed. He’s only going to be a kitten once.

I think he’s going to forget again in a week and I think its too entertaining to remind him.

Yippee!!!

Evening all. Not much accomplished today (reread a webcomic in toto tonight–Drive, a SciFi comic that started in 2010 and is still puttering along at one update per week). May accomplish more tomorrow, we’ll see. Did get up to near 60F today, so heater had some time off.

Unknown, cat likes to swim…well, life is weird…

Seanette, you can send me that meatloaf–lost my mom’s instructions many years ago so now it’s trips to Logan’s Roadhouse for good meatloaf.

VanGo, as I may have posted before, there is a SF quote I dearly love; “Shared pain is lessened; shared joy increased.” No crap to put up with. And those are lovely pictures.

OK, time to head off to bed. See y’all on 2sday.

I hope I never presented as someone with good taste and refinement cause I try to not lie to friends. Waste a few hours here:

BTW, for anyone who didn’t get the idea by the non-preview, this comic is not work safe and you might not want children around either. OTOH, it’s funny af.

Here is my favorite one, which is work and child safe.

Maine Coons are known to like to play in water. GG is a kitten and kittens play with everything. GG was also bred for his good looks, not his smarts. The breeder was successful because we can already tell that GG is going to be a magnificent cat who still can’t figure out how to push a door open with his nose.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

I love Oglaf. Especially the “Skulls of my enemies” arc.

Alex Catt has no probelm getting wet. “Princess Pretty Paws”, on the other hand…

Van Go, no bummer, just {{{{hugs}}}}.

Congrats, Butters!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 46 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 53 and rainy(ish) for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is laundry. Beyond that, it will be a good day to stay inside and dry. Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy. Intrestin’ly enough, it’s beastloaf, one I yanked from outta da freezer, so next beastloaf go round I shall h

ave to make ‘em fresh. I usually make two at a time, one to eat then and one to freeze. Except if’n there’s company, then both get et. Where was I goin’ with this? Oh, yeah, nettie too much beastloaf has never been a problem here.

VanGo you are not bein’ a bummer. The MMP is a place for such things as remembrances of beloved pets and so forth.

Unknown I love readin’ how GG finds new and interestin’ ways to entertain himself!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Awoke to an amazing 34°!! It won’t last - it’ll drop into the 20s tonight and won’t get above freezing tomorrow, but this morning, it’s practically balmy! OK, maybe not that warm, but still…

We’ll leave shortly for the oral surgeon and n a few hours, FCD’s infected molar will go away. After it’s yanked, we’ll swing by to pick up Toby. He’ll fill the rest of the day - at least till 2:30-ish. I’ve got a chicken to rotiss for supper and even if FCD isn’t up to solid food, I can hack it up for future meals. And I might get some laundry done in there, too.

Wow, quiet (dull?) day ahead. That works.

Happy Tuesday!

Good morning everyone.

The stagnant, foggy conditions remain and it’s currently 33 degrees. These conditions are supposed to stick around for a few days yet. We MIGHT see some sun on Friday, but then it’s back to cloudy conditions and following that, rain.

You are not being a downer or a pain, VanGo. I think it’s apparent we all loved/love our pets and can fully empathize with your loss.

Congrats on the house, butters! Great news!

My granddaughter is quite the character. Yesterday she got new shoes because her old shoes were worn and torn up, so my daughter tossed them in the trash. Later, Zoe went to put a popsicle stick in the trash and discovered her shoes. She exclaimed “God damnit” and brought those shoes to both my daughter and son-in-law told them they were not to throw her shoes in the trash. LOL! She is SO her mother! And, that GD is exactly how her mother expresses frustration, usually under her breath.

The DME company called on my cell phone late yesterday evening while I was out paying our HOA dues. I will call them back today and hand the phone over to my husband for him to talk. I don’t know why they’re not calling on his phone. I hope it’s good news and that they can get him his machine sooner, rather than later.

I have another exceptionally full workday ahead of me. I need to make travel arrangements to go to Yakima on Feb 14th. Fortunately, it’s only one day. I plan to drive over on Sunday afternoon and return home Monday afternoon. If it was summertime, I’d just head over early in the morning; but White Pass can be treacherous in the early morning hours, so I’ll just do it this way. Besides, that’s a lot of freakin’ driving in one day even in the summer, especially when one throws having to work in between those long drives. Hopefully, this will be my last trip to Yakima for the furniture and cube installation business.

Next, I start working on Wenatchee, which is a drive over two passes for me if I go via Snoqualmie and Blewett, versus going all the way north to Hwy 2 and Steven’s pass. It’s much less of a drive doing it the first way. In the summer, the drive to Wenatchee is actually shorter than Yakima and not such a big deal; I’ve completed the drive there and back in one day several times.

Today is meetings and HR issues. Fun times.

Yes, I remember the discussion about green-laning! The pull-over spots are usually only on one side of the road so if it’s on your side, you pull into it and let the other vehicle pass. Unless it’s a tractor, in which case you probably have to reverse all the way back to a bit that’s wide enough for you both, or the tractor does the decent thing and pops into a convenient field to let you past.

I’ve also been on some lanes where you can see far enough ahead to tell there’s a vehicle coming towards you, then you can pull in somewhere and wait for it to pass.

Totally unrelated, hello from the We(s)t Midlands!

Morning all. It’s 39F heading for 47F and no rain in sight. Probably get dressed and head off to the AT&T place to inquire about phones, so I can be a little smarter when I buy one. Otherwise nothing much on the agenda.

Taters, I don’t think I cussed until I was well into my teens. Not that my Dad was shy about using words, I just know what would happen if I used them around him or Mom.
Hope work isn’t to irk-some.

FCM, hope the tooth-yanking goes by without issues.

Unknown, I’ll look at Oglaf now and then…definitely not for kids, but I do enjoy it.

OK, pills have been taken so sometime later this morning breakfast will be consumed. All y’all take care.

It was easy enough for me… But seriously, it was quick and we were on our way 45 minutes after arriving. He’s in bed now, Toby’s in his swing, and I get to pick up Roxy today because my daughter had to make an emergency dental appointment for this afternoon. Always something! I’ve got an appt on Thurs for my semi-annual cleaning and checkup - interestingly, I haven’t had to have any emergency work done on my teeth. Coincidence? I think not. But they won’t listen to me and have regular checkups.

SIL apparently lost his insurance on 12/31 - I swear, they have more problems with his insurance. It’s thru the Maryland Exchange, and based on things Sari used to share, I’m guessing it’s issues within that organization. He or my daughter need to get a real, full-time job with bennies so they don’t have to get insurance thru the exchange any more. But at least they have something.

We’ll see how long the little 'un sleeps before an empty tummy wakes him. Then we need to leave here at 2:30 to fetch Roxy. So much for a chill day. Looks like the chicken will be rotissed tomorrow.

Anybody good at paw print ID? Do I have a skunk or a raccoon visiting my porch?
Imgur
The house doesn’t smell like in previous times I’ve had skunks in the crawlspace.

I’m not entirely sure, but I’ve landed on raccoon for those. Young raccoon.

I’m feeling down today, so this may be the entire update for the day. All y’all take care.

So there were multiple late trucks and planes Friday, so we had 2 1/2 trailers of left behinds. Then we didn’t run on Saturday to the snow. On the bright side, we’re down to 4 pallets of left behind stuff. The leadership, planning, and execution for something that happens every year is about the same as the bridge scene in Apocalypse Now. Definitely glad I am but a humble minion.

VanGo, I’d guess racoon.

{{{{sunny}}}}

I’m not sure, but maybe @Beckdawrek would know, given her critter collection.

Annoyed with the cat right now. Her case of the zoomies left me with uncomfortable scratches on the shin she pushed off from when changing direction. Surface scratches (and promptly disinfected. I know where her paws go), but about like 3" paper cuts in annoyance level.

Congrats on the house, butters! :house_with_garden: :tada:

I’m a bit down today: I’m pretty sure one of my friends is dying. :worried: She and her wife live in central WA (about 36 miles north of Yakima, Taters), and she’s been battling cancer for a few years. Recently, I’ve noticed one or two FB posts from her wife along the lines of “remembering the days when we thought we had all the time in the world.” Then, on Sunday evening her wife posted from their local hospital: “Resting quietly in CCU. Please keep [friend] in your thoughts.” I think the fact that they’re local, and not in Seattle where my friend has been getting treated, is unfortunately meaningful.

I wasn’t ready to mention this/think much about it yesterday.

I visited them a few summers ago, and I’m super glad that I did. We had a great time. I tried to visit again six months ago, but the travel industry was still too screwed up (no rental cars to be found, etc.) and I just couldn’t make it work. Regret sucks. Anyway, I’ve been obsessively refreshing her wife’s FB page, on the lookout for updates. I doubt that I could make it out there for a funeral/service, but a mutual friend lives in this area: whenever the time comes, I’m sure he’d be willing to meet somewhere to raise a glass in her honor.

If she somehow makes it through whatever’s happening now, I can’t imagine anything keeping me away from WA this summer…but I have a feeling this is it.

I’ll arm-wrestle The_Stainless_Steel_Rat for it!

I’m no expert. But in mud raccoons prints look much like a small human hand. It’s kinda creepy.

I vote badger.

@Sunny_Daze - feel better.

Happy Toosday!

It was a balmy 36 degrees at the park this morning.
Six people and eight dogs showed up, although not all at the same time.
Two new dogs showed up and Echo got a little pissy with one of them. He got pissy right back at her, so a little bit of noise and nothing else.

No drama though. Yesterday it was only me and the two I am mad at, but they didn’t say anything snarky, so it was good.

Congrats Butters! I like the house.

Congrats Swampy on no more duties.

Right now, I’d love to have a chauffeur.
I don’t know why I hate driving so much, especially when I drive so little.

Yes, the Maryland Exchange is a huge PITA. I feel sorry for anybody who has to deal with them.
That was the place where the guy answered the phone, then set it down, and I got to listen to him talk about eating donuts and gossip about some co-workers.
Their website sucks as well.

I am so sorry this is happening. Cancer sucks largely. If it is time, I wish comfort and peace for everyone.

Oh, I hate it when GG does that. Last time he did I was wearing walking shoes and he hooked a claw in the skin right inside the edge of the shoe and it rubbed every time I took a step. It’s good they are soo cute!

Hub’s friend isn’t really able to comprehend what he hears anymore, so hubs just learned today that friend has to show a negative TB test before moving into his new digs. We don’t think that friend has to show proof of COVID vaccination though. Of course TB is more of a worry out here. Grumbles about living in a red state.

During the day, I like to sit in the spare room and stitch. GG and VBC like to come in and sleep on the bed or lay on the night stand and watch the birds. I want a bird feeder outside that window for them and went to a couple of thrift stores today. I also checked the jungle and learned that it would be cheaper and easier to just buy a pole and feeders from the jungle so their new TV show will be turned on this weekend.

The community center in the next town over does 6 dollar lunches that include a very nice salad bar and hubs and I will go a couple of times a month. During our visits, I learned that a quilting group sets up their machines at the community center every Tuesday to make quilts for a good cause. That is all I know about them except that everyone seems to be nice and cheerful.

Last week, someone on Nextdoor posted that she was giving away some of her surplus quilting supplies and I suggested that the quilting group would probably be very happy to get her stuff and posted about the same info about them to her. She thanked me and said she would drop by.

Now I’m getting all sorts of messages from other people wanting to know all about the quilting group, dates, times, phone numbers, organizer’s name, what the charity is and etc. I don’t know all that stuff, so I keep having to repeat myself about not knowing more than what I had shared and they would have to go to the community center and find out for themselves. People sometimes. Sheese.

VanGo, you’re not imposing. You just lost someone who you loved and are still hurting. We’re good with hugs in the MMP. {{{}}}

unknown, I’m thinking one of my last cats must have had some Maine Coon cat or Turkish Angora ancestry. She liked to play in water too. She caught me off guard one middle of the night when she flushed the commode to watch the swirly. :stuck_out_tongue: (I knew it was her, given that I was the only human in the place and the other cat wasn’t hip to water).

Congrats on being relieved of the church janitor…errrr…JW duties swampy!

It was colder when I came home from irk than it was when I left, which is weird. It’s supposed to get realllllllllly cold for the next few days with the wind making it feel even colder. Can this winter stuff just be done already?

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
