There’s a commercial for Burger King where a singer–apparently a Black male with a really flat singing voice–sings something like the old “Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce” jingle with new lyrics. Is this a famous singer with a recognizable voice? I don’t think it’s Macklemore, but I don’t know current vocalists well enough to rule anybody out.
“Catchy”? Maybe like the measles. I can’t wait for that campaign to end, but I see no sign of that happening soon.
So, who is it?
The singer is actually Will Crown, the musician behind Crown and the M.O.B. In an interview with Kiss 92.5, Crown stepped forward as the person behind the jingle, which focused on Burger King’s Whopper meal.
I too had thought it was Craig Robinson at first but then I decided it was someone meant to sound like Craig Robinson. Perhaps not, though - seems like it’s just how Crown tends to perform.
Like Craig Robinson pretending to be a bad singer? Because he’s way better than that.
Oh yeah, for sure. An affect for humor.
Moderating: Bare links are not encouraged on the SDMB and the preview doesn’t answer the question.
Apparently the answer is Will Crown hails from Brooklyn, New York
Yes, sorry, I followed up with a quote from the article, but I won’t do that again.
Wow, you guys came through quickly! Thanks, all!
Hehe, my ex-roommate, who is in advertising, loves this ad.I can’t say I’m crazy about it, but I did know it and know what it was advertising. I’m pretty oblivious, so I’d say it works pretty well for their purposes.
