That clip is from some sort of Rodney Dangerfield Presents the Young Comedians special bank in, I think, the early 90s. That same special introduced Bobcat Goldthwaite to the world. I taped it, and rewatched the Nelson and Golthwaite routines for many years.

1985. Rodney Dangerfield’s 9th Annual Young Comedians Special. This was like the Holy Grail of short-form stand-up; 9 comedians including:

Sam Kinison
Rita Rudner
Bob Nelson
Louie Anderson
Yakov Smirnoff
Bob Saget (I still tell some of his jokes from this special)

Sorry, but your memory’s faulty: Bob Goldthwait was not on this special. By 1985, he had already appeared in Police Academy 2, which opened several months before the RD special aired.

Can I just sidetrack a bit in praise of the days when we could choose something we liked on TV and save it and watch it whenever we wanted?

Today even Blu-Ray is being phased out, in favor of a system in which we have to pay each time we watch something, and what we want to watch may not be available because the rent-collecting companies arbitrarily cycle the offerings in and out.

It’s not better.
