Identify a percussion instrument.

I’ve seen people playing a small instrument that I cannot identify. It has a handle. It’s wooden. At the top of the handle is a round cylinder about 4-5" in diameter and 2-3" thick. It’s wrapped in what appears to silver metal beads. It’s played by rubbing the cylinder part in the palm of the hand.

Any idea what I’m talking about?

According to my handy-dandy Lark in the Morning catalog, it’s called a cabasa.

Yep, that’s it!

Thanks!
