Identify this college radio song from too few clues

I was listening while driving, so I was unable to pay close enough attention.

  1. While the song was playing, I commented to my wife ‘this guy sounds like Kurt Elling’; my wife thought Frank Sinatra. Smooth, not shouting, crooning.
  2. Kinda downtempo, moody music, maybe like U2’s Beautiful Ghost?
  3. Lyric - this is what struck me, but apparently I’m not remembering it correctly - included something along the lines of ‘this is the world that courage has made’ and a refrain of ‘blessed is the man who has none’ or ‘God bless the man who has none’.

Naturally, a Google search for these phrases hasn’t returned anything, and the radio station’s playlist is of no help; there’s a two hour gap in the songlist that overlaps my song. This is otherwise a typical college radio station with a pretty eclectic setlist; no help there I’m afraid.

Anyone have an inkling?

Dead Can Dance, “How Fortunate The Man With None”?

I’d bet this is it - the singer sounds like Kurt Elling to me as well.

That’s the one!
Thanks so much, It’s Not Rocket Surgery!
With the misremembered lyric, I never would have found this without your help.
