I think this may even be beyond the powers of the TM, but I figured I’d give it a shot. I heard a song on the radio recently that was kind of catchy despite the sort of whiny, nasally voice of the singer. It was 4/4, with a simple but constant drum beat going the whole time. The only lyric I remember being sung was something along the lines of:
“I do believe that…” something something something…
Just in case somebody else happened to hear it, it was playing at 8:22 PM on Saturday night on 96.1 Rock in Raleigh, NC. I remembered the time because I was on my way to the bookstore and I thought I’d look at their playlist when I got home, but sadly it’s one of the worst designed websites I’ve seen in a while and I can’t find any playlist on there. Ooh, but I did pick up a promising book, “Cloud Atlas” I think it’s called. But that’s another thing altogether. Can anybody help me?
Hmm… no, that’s not it. It was a sort of atmospheric song. I don’t remember guitars being very prevalent… Definitely not what I would call hard rock. At least the little bit I heard of it wasn’t. I’d say it was an F or an E that was sung… let’s see, like this:
Nope, none of those are it, although the Morrissey song is pretty cool. The ones listed so far are all too rock. This is almost like a slow electronic song or something. I wish I could come up with an example. The tempo would be ~108 bpm. I have a feeling that when I find this song I’m going to think, Man, this sucks. But even so, I just can’t let it go!
MagicEyes, thank you sooooo much. I remember you from the RTP Dopefest thread. As I recall you had good taste in music… is this album pretty good? Q.E.D., your suggestion clearly made too much sense for me to have come up with on my own. I do like to try to stump the Board, but obviously it’s going to take something a bit harder. Maybe “Name this song in half a note!”
Thanks guys.
To be fair, the lyrics you posted were, “I do believe that…” something something something, while the actual lyric was, **"And I do believe it’s true that… ** something something something. What are your going to do next time, change *all * the lyrics?
Thanks! I think I have good taste in music, anyway. I don’t have the album, but I’ll probably get it some day. I’m still checking out the samples on their website and on betterpropaganda.com, and I like some of their other songs. I wanted to go see them in Raleigh last month, but that didn’t happen.
I have to admit, I had a little bit of an edge over the competition because I listen to this radio station, and I know what they play. It was still a tricky one, though. I wish they’d put a playlist on their website.
Oops, sorry, sarcasm wasn’t meant at you. More a mocking tone at myself, as in, “I probably should have thought of that…” I was actually about to e-mail them after reading your reply when I saw that MagicEyes had it nailed already. Thanks again to all!
So, on the off chance somebody is still reading this thread, I listened to the rest of the album and some of it is good, some not so good, but nothing is really quite like the “Body Meets Soul” track. Does anybody know any artists that have a similar musical quality as this song?
