While flipping through channels one lazy Sunday a saw this scene from a movie. In a rural setting, a bunch of kids where making fun of another kid, telling him that his penis was small. Just then, the hero, an adult, shooed the other kids away and sat down with the one being teased and assured him that for a kid his age, his penis is quite large. The kid was black and the hero was a white man - it looked like it was shot (and set) in the 70’s. The hero was dressed in ranch/cowboy wear, I think. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?
Conrack, a movie where Jon Voight was a teacher on one of those tiny rural islands in Georgia. I remember seeing it on TV when I was younger, and thinking “Wow, he’d probably get fired for saying that stuff in real life.”
Thanks alot. I was afraid I might have imagined this due to the outrageousness of the exchange.
He may actually have said it in real life–Conrack was a true story. I remember reading about the guy in an article (probably an excerpt from his book) in Life magazine circa 1970.
