Identify this poorly-remembered movie or TV show about a robot detective

Live action, 1980s or thereabouts, I think from the USA, I think with a detective or mystery-solving theme; one of the main characters was a realistic humanoid robot (but not Inspector Gadget). One of his abilities was to take a photograph by pressing his nose - the photo (a polaroid snap) would rise up out from his shirt pocket.

Can’t remember if it was a movie or a series.

Any chance

It reminded me of Hymie from Get Smart.

I did some quick digging, the camera gag was a running joke and the show was connected in production to Get Smart.

That’s the one! Thanks

Wow, John Schuck. He was everywhere on TV when I was a kid. And he’s still working a bit. Here’s pic from a 2022 film:

Not to be confused with the more infamous Future Cop.

How about the one with Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E?

Ha, the series was shown in Spain too, all I remembered was the time he ran into a glass door and a streeeeeaaam of polaroids shot out of his pocket! I would never have remembered the name, that is the only scene that stuck. And I can’t find it on You Tube…

I’ve got to throw in a pretty good one, Almost Human, starting Karl Urban and Michael Ealy. Huge production costs and only OK viewership, it was canceled after one season.

I was thinking of Mann and Machine (1992), a Dick Wolf show starring Yancy Butler (Witchblade), David Andrews, and S. Epatha Merkeson (Law & Order).

What was the show where it was basically A-Team but one of the members was inexplicably a robot that looked like one of the Mystery Science Theater 3000 robots?

Doom Patrol or Misfits of Science?

Whenever I hear about John Shuck I can’t help but think of this “star-studded” TV series from the past. I tried watching an episode but just couldn’t take it seriously. (Read the full cast list and you’ll see what I mean.)

Robert Vaughn as “King Darius” was as creepy as he was playing the murderer on Columbo.

Riptide.

Bingo, thanks!

Knockoff Magnum PI plus knockoff Lewis Skolnick got three seasons!?

It was the era of Jake And The Fatman and Hardcastle And McCormick in the wake of Simon and Simon. People lapped that stuff up.

And Man from Atlantis I loved that show as a kid and I was devastated when it ended. On reflection though, getting kids to believe in, and then probably emulate, a character who can breathe underwater mayyyybe wasn’t the best thing…

Fondly remembered in China as one of the first western TV shows to be shown there.

Makes me feel even more bad for China

I loved Simon and Simon, and I remember watching Riptide too. I had completely forgotten about that show.
