Identify this scene from All in the Family - "Every key your singing in Edith"

Can anyone identify the name of the All in the Family episode where Archie and Edith are at the piano. Edith asks Archie what key he is playing in and Archie replies “All the keys you’re singing in Edith”. I want to record that quote to play it back on demand.

It’s “Edith Writes a Song” (Season 2, Episode 4), which was originally aired on October 9, 1971.

That is the only one that searches suggest, but it is not the one with that scene. Are you aware of any free access to full scripts?

I don’t remember Archie ever playing the piano.

I am a big All in the Family fan, but I do not remember ever seeing that scene.

And I certainly don’t think Archie was ever shown playing the piano, as @Jaycat.again said.

mmm

Moved to Cafe society, our forum for all things cultural, including TV shows.

No, Archie never played piano on “All in the Family”.

However, there was an episode where Edith went to Kelsey’s Bar after a fight with Archie, and sang at the piano with a bunch of bar patrons. A series background character (whose name escapes me) was playing the piano, and he might’ve said something like that.

There was also Klemmer the butcher who played piano for Edith, but that doesn’t sound like something he’d say.

Klemmer would say “Ed-it”

Could it be from Archie Bunker’s Place? And Stephanie instead of Edith?

I watch All in the Family all the time (I have the box set) and I don’t think it’s from there.

Thank you all for the feedback. I had chatgpt search the script from every episode in Smithfield! and it could not be found. Archie’s voice has been in my head for 30 years saying this and it still makes sense for those characters. Funny, I also searched for Ed-it because that is what I hear in my head. I am aware of the other spots at a piano in the bar, but the scene that I found in shorts did not include this.

CHATGPT was proud to tell me that it found the exact answer and then repeated Wendell’s original answer word for word. Glad there are still humans to offer help.

BTW, the ep “E-dit’ Writes a Song” was the one where there was a home invasion. E-dit’ sings her song for them. Going from memory:

“Everybody’s someone if you love them.
Live can grow a flower from a dump!
Everybody’s someone if you love them.
Live can make a hero from a chump!”

One of the burglars was Demond Wilson, who I understand is just recently deceased.

Trivia notes: “Sanford and Son” played games with the character names. If course, Redd’s real last name was Sanford. His pal after the first season was Grady Wilson. In one ep in the first season Lamont’s full name is given as *Grady Lamont Sanford. IRL Wilson’s full name was Grady Demond Wilson.

*Continuity glitch: In a later season, Fred says that Lamont was actually the middle name, and they never could decide on a first name.
