Here.
There are some print ads too. One with a Biker at a day spa. Bald/tattooed man sitting with women under a dryer.
What always gets me is the quick, furtive, side-to-side glance that the lady does before she says, “My girl robot.”
Not to derail this thread (I do like the identity theft commercials) but I also like the Burger King series with the people who work in the office building.
“I’m spiiiiiicy!”
Anyone know if they’re available on line anywhere?
What the …? Have I stepped into Bizarro World? Those commercials may have been funny the first couple times but they have long ago worn out their welcomes. I almost pulled up that old annoying commercials thread for the past few nights just to complain about them. They use the most annoying voices for the voice overs (i.e., the Fran Dresher wannabe who wants to buy “a statue of David but with some underpants on because she’s no hussy”) and the things the people are saying are playing on bad sterotypes “I’ll be the prettiest girl in the whole development”. At least one of these commercials seems to be on every commercial break in prime time TV. They make me want to stab knitting needles in my ears. Enough already!
They must have different ones for different markets, because I’ve never seen the ones titled “Saddlebags,” “Ohh la la,” or “Underpants On.” Also all very funny, especially the last one.
Worse yet, ones I stop the fast forward to watch–AGAIN!
A brilliant series made all the more brilliant because they actually SELL the product.
Here’s something I just realized.
I know the product is some sort of identity theft protection.
But I have no idea what company they’re for.
Do you know what company?
Citibank.
While I do enjoy the commercials, I think there is a very vague creepy quality to them. Probably because they are done so well.
It’s fun trying to visualize the actual people of the voices. I think “Larry” looks like Mick Jagger, and “Ms. Trailer Park” is obviously Tammy Fae Baker.
I had no idea so many people liked “girl robot”. It’s one of my favorite commercials ever, and it’s a shame I don’t see it on TV anymore. Thanks, Jeff Olsen, for the link.
Does anyone else think Larry the Babe Magnet is Adam West? Or does anyone have a list of the actors that do the voices?
I just realized that for most of these commercials, I have a very clear picture in my head of what the identity thief must look like, but almost no recollection of what the victims look like.
Larry looks a lot like Max Headroom with a fake tan.
I like Larry the Babe Magnet the best. The dentist/dental hygenists facial expressions (and especially during the laugh) is hilarious.
A vote here for ‘grrr…Mamacita’. But the “my girl robot” was good, too, and I find that the Hygienist channelling Larry the Babe Magnet did a great job.
These are fun ads. I do hope that they let them rest for a while and don’t drive the schtick into the ground.
It registered with me that the ads were for Citibank right off the bat. They actually estarted ID-theft ads quite a while back, like when they introduced their picture-IB credit cards they had a print ad of a police lineup with a Big BadAss Biker and a milquetoasty whitebread guy… but the stolen credit card had the picture of Mr. BadAss.
I HATE the Larry The Babe Magnet one. The voice just pisses me off. I knew a guy who spoke like that and every time he opened his mouth I wanted to peg him. That is the most annoying voice ever.
I liked the “girl robot” one until he said “best prom ever.” I wondered… if it’s gonna be the “best prom ever” how does he plan to sneak that 64" plasma monitor past his parents, or if he doen’t live at home, why bother with the stupid prom in the first place??
Yes, I’m having “suspension of disbelief” issues with movies these days too.
What? Nobody else likes “I feel like the prettiest girl in the whole development”?
Yep. That’s my personal favorite, thus far.
Woo-hoo!
