Identiy Theft Commercials

These are the commercials where they take “regular” looking folk and do voice overs with someone telling where and what they spent the “regular’s” money. My favorite is the dental hygenist and Larry the babe magnet. I find these quite clever and entertaining.

The first one, with the “leather bustier,” is IMHO the best. The expression on the victim’s face at the end makes it for me. Really, look at how his trailer is decorated. $1500 is probably three months rent for that place, and some snotty-nosed mallrat spent it on an article of clothing she won’t be wearing (because it’s no longer fashionable) in one month.

Classic.

Dr Fidelius, that is my favorite too. I love the sigh at the end and the look on his face. Very clever idea.

Firewall? That couldn’t stop me. Once I got her account number, I couldn’t spend it fast enough! 64-inch plasma screen monitor, 10 2.4GHz wireless routers … oh, and $20,000 to complete my robot. My girl robot.

This is gonna be the Best. Prom. Ever.

Great commercials. Makes me wanna go out and steal somebody’s identity, it sounds so fun!

I agree with lno. “My girl robot!” is my favourite line in these commercials. (Incidently, I knew someone who talked like that; although he was not computer-literate.)

They’re all quite clever, but Larry the Babe Magnet is the one that does me in every time. Its that throaty laugh at the end. Oh, and the droll delivery of “freaky-deaky”. What a great phrase.

I’m with DrF on the leather bustier version. It’s the look on the guy’s face when he says “lifts and separates” that gets me every time.

Another vote for “girl robot.”

What’s really troubling is the words “My girl robot!” coming out of Macy Gray’s twin sister’s face. SHIVERS!

Another vote for Larry the Babe Magnet (Hey, that would make a great user name!). My husband and I will immediately stop whatever we are doing to watch, and then we both still crack up every time. (Yes, we have no lives… )

IIRC, he actually says 4.2 MHz. Obviously not written by a techie.

My husband and I do the same thing over the “leather bustier” one.

My 2nd favorite one is the old woman cleaning her swimming pool – prrrrrr-ah, mammasita! Watch how the husband sitting in the background does the “thumbs up” when the woman mentions the mud flaps with the naked ladies on them. Hee.

Anyone have links to these commercials online? I’ve only seen one or two, but would like to see them all.

The “growling Mommacita” has become one of the biggest jokes in my social circle. And when you make jokes about them in public, everyone knows what you’re talking about, and wants to join in. It’s hysterical!

Anybody know which agency did them?

Can you believe we all agree on a commercial we like? And a series of commercials, yet!

I like these parts: “I had to power up my babe magnet: fresh hair plugs, wax job on the old chassis…ooouuuuchh!” and “Easy ladies, there’s enough Larry for everyone!”

heheheheheh

It’s even funnier that it’s coming out of the mouth of a little Asian lady at a nail salon!

You want to know what’s evil about the commercials?

An actor that appears on screen but does not speak gets less money and of course someone who does the voice over gets less money as well.

So they are cheaper to make than most commercials and even though the two actors (the voice and the on screen) are really charming you guys, the actors get less money.

My favorite moment is the look on the Asian dental hygenist’s face when she does Larry’s creepy laugh.

When these commercials first started running, I thought it was a concept that, though cute for a couple of viewings, would get old quickly. Instead, they seem to get better.
