IE 5.0 problem? Extremely slow scrolling

In the past few days I’ve noticed (noticed? Hell! It’s kicking me in the teeth!) an extraordinary slow-down in the scrolling speed of some of the web pages I routinely visit. This happens both when I use the the mouse wheel and the slider on the side of the page. Some pages require a minute or more to reach the bottom of the page. Unfortunately, the SDMB is one of those pages. Some pages work just fine.

I’m running IE 5.0 and Windows 98SE. I didn’t install any new software prior to the start of this problem. I’ve run AdAware and SpyBot (thinking that something nefarious might be sucking up my resources) to no avail.

Any ideas?

I had this problem a few weeks ago. Reinstalling my video drivers solved it.

I doubt this your problem, but give it a try.

Did you somehow turn on smooth scrolling by accident in the last few days?

Tools > Internet Options > Advanced. Turn off “Use smooth scrolling”
