IE 5.0 question

You guys all seem to know way more about computers than I, so I was wondering if any of you could help with a problem. On my computer, I use IE5.0 to view JPEGs. Something screwed up, and it started viewing the pictures with the Quick Time viewer. Bad. So I went into Folder Options, File Types, and clicked on JPEGs, and re-associated it with IE5. That solved one problem, but created two more. Instead of showing the old JPEG icon (the white sqaure with a little red square and blue paintbrush), all of the JPEGs show the little blue “e” logo. Add to that, instead of reusing the window, it opens up a new window each time you open a new file. Used to be, I could open a bunch of pics, and just use the back (or forward) button on the browswer screen to scroll through. Now, I’ve got as many windows as files open. I went into Tools-Internet Options-Advanced, but found no “reuse window” or “recycle window” option. Any suggestions on how to get my computer back to normal?

Many, many thanks.
