IE 6 Question-Downloading

I have IE 6,when I click a link to download,it saves to a temporary folder but I want it to save to my documents. How do I make it download to my documents? Ive tried resetting all the settings to default but that didnt help. Any help is appreciated.

What operating system are you using?

Can’t you just right click on the link and select “Save Target As…” Then you can select to save it in My Docs.

Not what you were looking for maybe, but it is a good habit to get into as it also shows you what type of file you are downloading. Too often these days we are tricked into downloading something we don’t want, or the link is merely a shortcut to another site.

I’m using Windows ME (yeah I know it sucks). I know about virus files, but these are websites I can trust because I frequently visit them. I recently had to reformat so I lost a lot of files and need o download them again and right clicking and choosing save as is annoying.

Try using the Windows Update tool instead… it automated the process…

Download Microsoft’s Tweak UI, it has an option where you can change the “Save As…” defaults.
