IE "Favorites" Logos

Every time I load a website into my IE5.5 “Favorites” folder I get a company logo to the left of the link. Next day , after re-loading IE ,the logo has changed to a blue “e” on a white square. Is there anyway of retaining these logos ?. It would be a good way of recognising various links ,especially as I have quite a few links loaded in the folder.

The logos are stored in your cache. If you delete your history or IE cache they dissapear. So if you have these things set to expire after a short amount of time(such as 1 day) then the logos won’t last very long. Although, I have noticed that even if I don’t delete my history the icons will sometimes dissapear for seemingly no reason at all.

So, I guess, try to set the Days to keep pages in history setting at a higher number and possibly allocate a larger amount of disk space for your Temporary Internet Files folder. In IE 6(and possibly earlier versions, these are available through Tools --> Internet Options and Tools --> Internet Options: Temporary Internet Files: Settings.

And to keep them, you’ll have to never empty your cache? theatrically There MUST be another way!
I empty mine daily.

The only way I know of to keep them is to store them locally on your hard drive. There must be an easier way, but here’s what I do:

Use print screen to capture the icon.
Crop the icon with a graphics program so it’s 32x32 pixels (I use Paint Shop Pro).
Convert it to an .ICO file (I use a program called Microangelo for this).
Save the .ICO file to the hard drive.
Right click on the bookmark, click on “Change Icon”, and locate the icon you just created.

Like I said, there’s got to be an easier way.
