If Barack gets the nomination will those of you in the Hillary camp vote for him in just under a year?
I signed up to be a part of a group of people from Connecticut going up to New Hampshire next week to hear him speak and participate in his campaign.
I’m also part of a group of educators from local colleges and educational facilities in Connecticut volunteering our time to help the Obama Campaign. I don’t really want this to turn into a great debate that is why I didn’t put it in there, but I would like to hear people sound off from the Hillary Camp: If Barack gets the nomination will you vote for him?
I’ll make my ultimate decision after the two candidates are chosen and run their campaigns. But at the moment, I would say the Obama looks like a better candidate than any of the likely Republicans he’ll face.
OF COURSE Clinton supporters would vote for Obama. It’s not as if they’ll have a viable alternative.
And in any case, Obama is smart enough to pick a bunch of Clintonistas to be part of his campaign team and his future Cabinet.
IF Obama got the nomination, he wouldn’t ask Hillary to be VP (that would be condescending, and would put her in an embarrassing spot), but I have no doubt he’ll pick someone VERY close to the Clintons. I could easily see Wesley Clark, for example, as either Veep or as Secreatry of State.
I wouldn’t consider myself a Clintonite, but I’d be happier with Obama in office than any of the other candidates I’ve seen thus far, so I guess that’s a “yes.”
I don’t blindly vote party line, but I generally vote Democrat. I can see myself voting for a Republican president, in theory. Powell v Kucinich? Yeah, Powell, no question.
That said, I don’t see myself voting for any current R front runner over any current D front runner. I think that’s going to be generally true of most eveyone, regardless of party. That is, Romney supporters will vote for Huckabee if he gets the nomination, despite what they said during primaries, for example.
For me it depends upon who wants the school kids in Mississippi to get a free lunch, and who wants GM to pay less taxes, whether they are short and funny looking or not.
