Who will the Clinton's vote for?

Yes, I know that they’ve come out wholeheartedly in favor of Obama in the past few months, for which they should be commended. However, both of them will step into the voting booth, with cameras on the outside and no one but their conscience’s on the inside. Will they still pull the lever for Obama?

Now, there is obviously no way to know, and being registered in New York, their votes hardly count for anything. But, I have a hard time believing that either one of them want Obama to win. If he wins, their dreams of entering the white house again are pretty much gone. If he loses she has another shot in four years with a pretty clear path through the Democratic party with Obama out of the picture and her history of supporting him in the interest of the party behind her.

In Bill and/or Hillary’s heart of hearts, do they want Obama to win? Will they vote for him when no one is watching?

How on earth would anyone other than Bill and Hillary know the answer to your question?

As I mention in the OP, there is obviously no way to know (or I would have put it in GQ). But, there is no doubt they will vote, and it would be debatable which level either one will press.

They are far more likely to receive patronage and support from a grateful Obama patronage than from McCain/Palin, and Hillary’s still a Democratic senator. She could easily have endorsed McCain and pretty much assured him the election with her Hill’08ers if she wished. I don’t think she and Bill plan on adopting another baby and naming him Barack, but I don’t doubt her party loyalty either.

Frankly, I don’t care. They’d both be voting in NY, their current home, and New York is going Dem, no matter what. Two votes won’t sway it either way.

There’s really no reason whatsoever to even speculate on how the Clintons will vote. It smacks of trying to keep the “division” open for prurient purposes (“let’s see if they fight when I shake the jar”).

Agreed, but if she did that, she would have 0% chance of ever becoming president. She would be shunned by her party forever, so that’s not a realistic option.

If Obama wins she has a very, very, very small chance of ever somehow becoming president. If Obama loses, she has a decent shot at becoming president in four years. She is going to vote one way or the other, and there are no political ramifications for her voting McCain because no one will ever know.

Given that she’ll either be voting in DC or in New York (I don’t know where her “registered” residence is… I assume NY) I don’t think it matters who she votes for. So maybe she’d vote for McCain out of self-indulgant pique, knowing that her vote won’t make a difference and NY will go blue regardless.

But if I was to guess, I’d say she votes for Obama. For all her political aspirations, I think she legitimately cares about things such as women’s rights, healthcare, the Supreme Court makeup, etc and knows which candidate will best pursue her goas even if not on the exact same tack as she would.

Bill and Hillary have exactly two votes between them, while their campaigning for Obama will gain him hundreds of thousands if not millions of votes. It would seem a rather silly thing to vote for McCain.

Come on, let’s get real. There’s no chance that either will vote for anyone but Obama.

While they are both professional politicians, they are also lifelong Democrats, devoted to causes like choice, health care, tax fairness, labor rights, and every other damn issue that Obama stands for. They know the issues and understand that there is no possible upside to voting for McCain, Nader, or anyone else.
