He’s doing it just to piss Goldman off. I forget what the law is, but hasn’t he figured out a way to shelter all his earnings? I’m guessing he wouldn’t do it if there was any chance Goldman would get any money.
Possibly that, too, but the real reason he’s doing it is that it’s just your standard book tour, basically, albeit with a macabre twist. You do Fox, GMA, Leno, Oprah, Larry King if you can get them. And obviously somebody who was notoriously acquitted of a murder who’s written a book about it called “If I Did It” can write his own ticket for Fox, GMA, Leno, Oprah, and Larry King. So you know where to look for him next.
He is dying to brag about how he did it, and how he was so slick to get away with it- like a four year old who can’t keep a secret. Hopefully people will now realize how pathetic the American trial by jury system is, where Sally Housecoats and Johnny Timeclocks can be swayed by fast talking big city lawyers.
I hope the “good people” at Fox are there to cover that, too. Can’t say it would trouble me if a few of them caught some collateral karmic ass kicking along the way.
Yeah, I get the whole “ratings ratings ratings” thing, but still, there has to be some minimal leval of decency somewhere. Giving this asshole a forum to brag about a double murder is beyond slimy.
Dunno… Maybe he’s just short of cash, or is an attention whore, but I think what this is going to be about is really “If I did it, I’d have done it very differently from the way it actually was done, so I can’t have done it, can I?”
Agreed, unless they put someone in there who could walk him through what they rehersed and then grab the right moment to just blow him out of the fucking water on national television. It’d be a totally watchable coup. Sadly, this is just a book commercial and that’s not going to happen.
Those whores? They don’t give a shit which way this turns out for O.J. They want to cash in on the scandal in any way they can. I just hope Goldman doesn’t reach his breaking point and ruin his own life by offing him.
You’re right, Fox is just filled with “whores”. And the people at Good Morning America weren’t concerned about sensationalism or ratings when they were courting John Mark Karr. Other networks routinely do the same thing when a division of the corporation is involved in something that can be exploited. The only requirement is that at some point in the broadcast they have to mumble something to the effect that the publisher is owned by the parent company of the network.
Don’t single out Fox because of this. Any network executive would have sold his mother and blown OJ to land the interview. Katie Couric would have put her ankles behind her ears for a chance to talk with him. Stone Philips would have bent over and grabbed his ankles just for the opportunity to ask a few questions.
OJ is slime. OJ is scum. But I want to hear from all of the people, especially the jurors, who professed his innocence and raged on* ad nauseum* about the racism and his being framed. They need to have the jurors in a room watching this and then, when he is finished, cut to them so we can get their reactions. If any of them still are willing to stand by their decision, I’d be amazed.
I’d be amazed too. But, lacking a time machine, the decision they made at the time, with the information they had at the time, with quite possibly the most incompetent prosecution I’ve ever seen, was probably the decision they had to make. At the time.
With any luck, something Simpson reveals in the book or interview will open him up to a new prosecution for something.
