If Seinfeld had a 9-11 episode

In very bad taste, of course, but I think it captures the feel of the show, gives each of the characters their due, and has some decent laughs:

Larry David touched on it (with due caution) in Curb Your Enthusiasm. As I recall the episode, he’s with a rabbi, and when they’re getting ready to go out, Larry says “Okay, let’s roll.” The rabbi takes exception to this because his brother-in-law was killed on 9/11. When Larry points out that the BIL was hit by a bike messenger on 57th Street (uptown), the rabbi insists that he was still a 9/11 casualty.

Never mind.

I read this whole thing in one sitting when it came out a couple weeks ago. If this isn’t the best bit of fan fic writing for Seinfeld, I don’t know what is. The author perfectly captured each character’s voice and tendencies and weaved it together in an excellent script that mirrored the best of Seinfeld’s converging storylines tactic at the end. He even accurately reflected Elaine’s late in the series meanness/apathy (she was a lot nicer in the earlier seasons) she exhibited towards everyone.

Since this was a one-off fan fic, I’m totally fine with the parallel situations that the characters here experienced which was pulled directly from actual Seinfeld episodes. The guy who says “Tower 6 fell on my dog” reminds me of the actor playing the patient who told Kramer that his role was “Doctor left a sponge inside me”, when Jerry froze and couldn’t kiss his girlfriend because the dust, and in the next scene Elaine said “You wouldn’t kiss her because of dust?” was exactly like the episode where Jerry wouldn’t kiss his girlfriend because he knocked her toothbrush into the toilet.

If this episode was actually made, it would probably be one of if not the best Seinfeld episodes. If I could kidnap the cast and force them to act this out, I would, no lie. I totally would do this. I wouldn’t even regret it.

On another note, the Upright Citizens Brigade did an original episode of Seinfeld. Its pretty good. You can watch ithere.

I bet Elaine would be pretty ticked off if she was on one of the flights and the terrorists put the English Patient on. She’d probably rush the cockpit to make the plane crash sooner.

This is the plus and the minus of the script - he captures the tone of the show well and there are a lot of laughs, but the stories are a bit redundant, reminiscent of previous situations on the show.

Woulda been a better final episode than the one they had.

I started reading the manuscript a week ago and it just seemed…off. Like, ok, they were all assholes on the show, but come on, it just seemed ridiculous. And I like dark humor.

That was really dark.

I will say they captured the characters pretty well. I could hear most of them speaking the dialogue written for each them but, wow. Blackest of black humor.

I also thought the ending was pretty weak.
