I don’t know about petable but I’ve spent more time petting pigs then I have horses. Doesn’t stop me from enjoying a porkchop.
I have been one of those kids in Korea playing with the cute puppies only for them to disappear to go be dinner. Generally. I don’t dig kegogi but I’ve tried it several times.
As I understand it, in most cultures that eat dog meat, the dogs are raised as livestock, not kept as pets. And if they do keep dogs as pets, those dogs are not eaten.
Which isn’t quite as crazy different from things that happen in the West. There are a lot of people who keep both chickens and rabbits for chicken/rabbit fancy (i.e. competitive show animals), and those animals are also kept as pets, and those animals are never killed to be eaten really. But there are also of course farms that raise both animals as meat livestock. I actually know a guy whose family does rabbit fancy and operates a rabbit meat farming operation–they use entirely different breeds and their kids grew up knowing the meat rabbits were for meat and they weren’t given names or treated like pets etc.
this side discussion reminds me of a Jimmy Stewart movie…
jimmy’s supposed to be a scout that’s half Indian helping his tribe and the army get rid of some renegades that’s causing everyone misery
So the tribe and settlers and the army are having a huge dinner in the Indian village and the army commanders eating a large piece of meat next to jimmy and he says " hey this isn’t bad… what is it?
jimmy says " oh its pony" in a sideways manner
army guy says “\ whats a pony?
jimmy says " a type of horse”
army guy pauses … slightly shrugs his shoulders and says " well it’s not bad at all "
Steve Lehto, long winded internet attorney, discusses the dismissal and how the defendants say they’ve racked up hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend this case that they consider frivolous and how they want compensation for that.
It’s usually difficult to take the side of a big company but this case does look like an attempted shakedown. I wouldn’t blame Subway for making it tough on the plaintiff, really meaning the plaintiff’s lawyers who probably are working on contingency to drop this suit. And then possibly going after them for defamation because I doubt there was any real evidence to start with.
