It’s not a war, it’s a:
[li]Peacekeeping mission[/li][li]Police action[/li][li]Shaking off[/li][li]Incident[/li][li]Local conflict[/li]Suppression of insurrection
Pick one.
It’s very simple. The objective is go after and kill or otherwise neutralize terrorists. If a nation like Taliban controled Afghanistan supports and harbors terrorists, it is as much an act of war as the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Probably for the same reason the Allies didn’t “just arrest” Hitler and his general staff. There was that small matter of invading and liberating Nazi controlled Europe before they could arrest any Nazis.

It was CNN. Do a Google search for “Palestine suicide bombing”.
Why is it ok to selectively condemn Palestinian terrorists but it’s always “the Israelis this” and “the Israelis that”?
Hogwash and absolute fucking bull! As one being frequently accused of the above I might point you to my initial post in this thread. Fact is that we rarely see any threads like this one that are skewed towards the Palestinians. Read through the posts in here and you will find a couple of posters more, beyond myself, that react exactly the same way to this OP as to OPs that are skewed in the opposite direction. The damned whining from those that feel disenfranchised about their right to spout biased crap is frankly quite sickening, extra so when it contains blanket accusations of the board’s tolerance levels. Spread your filth on both sides of the irrational bias if you like, but for the love of rationality do suffer the onslaught of reason with some modicum of honor when called on your agitprop regurgitations.

“If the Palestinians would” stop? “attacking Israel, then Israel will stop retaliating. Arafat started this war by calling for an Intifada two years ago. Now, having started the war, some Palestinians complain that their children are being killed in the war they started.” (bolding mine)
December - This war has been going on for a long time, probably longer then most of us have been alive. As long as Israeli and Palestinian children grow up and are taught to hate each other this war will continue, perhaps long after you and I are long gone. Read some history, you’ll see that the area has a history of war and violence that dates back thousands of years.
Just imagine for a moment that I came to your door and said you have to move because these other people need a home. Sure, you’d be ticked off but since I would have many men and weapons you really wouldn’t have much choice would you?
This seems to have been the case for many Palestinians since 1948. You should be able to understand why they might just be a little pissed off at the folks who gave them the boot.
Given that they have enough firepower to reduce every living Palestinian to ash, I suppose you aren’t saying much there.
Tough noogies, Pal. The fact of the matter is that the Israeli’s aren’t going to move now and they aren’t going to give up and die. Too many Palestinian “leaders” haven’t got a real conception of the way the world is, instead, they keep trying to force their will upon it. They can’t win, but they can keep the other side from winning. In any event, it was a long time ago. Maybe not long enough, but like you said, BEFORE most of us were born. And I think too many Palestinians have forgotten that new generations don’t need Israeli land, they don’t need Israeli deaths, they need a good home. And they don’t have it, and wont, so long as the Palestinians keep up their fruitless war.
You may or may not think it “fair” that the ball is in Palestine’s court. Fine, but its doesn’t change the political reality. I don’t care about “fairness”. I don’t care about “Justice”, and for all the sleep I will lose everyone in the Middle East could keel over dead tommorow. That’s just the way I see it.
I can now see why Sparc is tired by this discussion.
I just want to bow out from this discussion, even if I started it myself.
I hope I can do it, without explaining too much.
I anyhow promised to write about intifada. I simply agree with a view that You can find in Sky News, in Yahoo news:
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/020903/140/d8qhw.html
Quote:
"Yahya, who is in charge of the Palestinian security forces, said on Monday that Palestinians should halt violence and switch to civil resistance to wage their two-year-old uprising against occupation."
End of quote
In different languages, in the newspapers, the word uprising is used together with Intifada.
