Palestinian terrorists kill an eight month pregnant mother and her four children, the youngest just two. Palestinian organization clamor to be recognized as the once behind the deed. So far two: the Popular Resistance Committees and Islamic Jihad (so that’s what the peaceful Islamic Jihad is all about: killing pregnant women and small children) have stepped up and claimed responsibility. Hamas has gracefully declined responsibility for the valiant act but called the attack a “heroic operation“. Aljazeera call the killers freedom fighters. Reuters naturally merely describe them as gunmen. I suspect world leaders and the UN will describe them not at all – unlike the recent killing of a massmurder in wheelchair which received international condemnation, afterall what is the life of a women, and five small children, one unborn, compared to that of an old terrorist?
It is a sign of how fucked up the world is that your OP does not surprise me one bit.
I’m not surprised, not about the killers or those reporting it. Wretched, hellish people.
Oh please. The Government of Israel should be held to higher standards than a ragtag band of terrorists. Extrajudicial executions as an official government policy of a government the United States supports is definitely cause for concerns. Comparing these two incidents is like comparing apples and oranges.
Sorry, I’m with the OP. The Palestinians can do no wrong in the eyes of the world because they’re doing it to Jews. Blowing up schoolgirls on Visigoth St.?—not a problem. Smashing in the skulls of two young boys? That’s cool, they were in a West Bank settlement where they had no business being.
Blowing up an evil old sunuvabitch who had planned and executed dozens of mass murders of Jews? Quel horreur!
It’s bullshit to blame Israel for the plight of the Palestinians when the shabbiest treatment has come from the Arab states that have refused to allow the Palestinians to settle permanently or become integrated citizens in their lands for the last 56 years.
Israel can nothing positive in the eyes of the world–except go back to the crematoria–so they shouldn’t pay much regard to the world’s condemnation for doing what they must to survive.
IMO, Israel’s best move would be to remove all settlements from the West Bank and create a viable Palestinian state with practical, contiguous borders. NOT to please the European and Third World Jew haters, but because it is the tactic that, IMO, would lead to a sensible modus vivendi with their Arab neighbors.
BBC News had this headline: Israeli helicopters fire on Gaza
“Radio stations linked to Hamas and Fatah were in the building
Israeli helicopters have fired missiles into Gaza City hours after Palestinian gunmen killed a pregnant Jewish settler and her four children.”
I really begin to doubt the impartiality of the BBC.
Maybe instead of building a fence, the Israelis could take a lesson from East Germany and have a border like they did with West Germany.
Well, to be fair, CNN, FoxNews, and Reuters all carried similar headlines.
Is there a link you can provide?
What then are the practical ramifications of a higher standard?
When faced with Arafat’s security apparatus that will not detain Hamas members in any viable manner, what is the higher standard?
When you can’t get your troops in to tightly packed residential areas in order to arrest terrorist leaders… but you can target them with a missile, what’s the higher standard?
And why, by the way, when Hamas has government backing by at least two nations and Arafat’s blessing are they 'ragtag?"
And why is it that the Palestinians are not to be held to the same standard? Terrorism directed specifically at civilians and organized by Arafat/Hamas is fine and dandy but military action taken by Israel against terrorists must be held to a different standard?
Why do the Palestinians get a standard where the
deliberate and methodical murder of Israeli civilians is excusable but Israeli assassinations of terrorists are somehow crimes against humanity?
What does this higher standard amount to other than Israeli not using force against terrorists and being blamed every time they do while an organized and dedicated network of terrorists receive international praise? What does the higher standard amount to other than telling Israel that there is no longer any right to self defense?
And before anybody misconstrues this, I do not support Israeli settlement, but I do support Israel keeping some of the land that changed hands in ’67. I also think Oslo was a pretty good deal.
Why is it all right, in the name of “fighting terrorism”, for Israel to bomb an apartment complex and kill a dozen innocent bystanders?
For all of my adult life I have been a Jewish sympathizer. That was extended to Israel. Some members of my family are Jews by birth though not by religious practice. Still, I have in my earlier years worn a Star-of-David around my neck to honor their heritage. The Holocaust took place, in part, during my lifetime and no one except my husband knows how much I have been affected by it.
But I don’t see one iota of difference between the terrorist acts of the Palestinians and those of the Israelis. I can throw my own country into the mix too.
Participate in the hatred and you too become a terrorist.
And how shall we compare the extrajudicial executions of Uday and Qusay Hussein, and the attempted assassination of Saddam Hussein by the United States of America?
I’m afraid I’m with Zoe. We have become them.
Why then is it okay for Pal homicide bombers to deliberately target innocent bystanders, over and over again. At least Israel makes an sincere effort to avoid civilian casualties when it’s going after the ‘big fish’. Double standard at work here.
Oh, bullshit. Uday and Qusay were holed up in a building shooting at American troops, ignoring repeated calls to surrender. What were they supposed to do, throw pies at them?
Here’s a clue, dumbfuck, we shouldn’t have been IN their country SEEKING them out for the PURPOSE of executing them in the first place!
You’re an idiot, Shayna, and all of your mastery of the bold tag dosen’t make it any less so.

And this has to do with Palestinian scum, how?
I think kezami pretty much nailed it on the head. We can see the difference between deliberately murdering a pregnant woman and her kids [or blowing up a restaurant filled with children, etc. etc.] and the accidental deaths caused by the Israeli army.
At least; I hope we can see the difference.
