Trump is a lot like David Koresh, except with a much bigger cult following. And we all know what happens when losers like Koresh and Trump get backed into a corner. There will be blood, but Trump is too chickenshit to call for an insurrection explicitly, so the violence will be scattered and ineffective.
If they think they can squeeze more money out of the faithful by ginning up rage and hysteria, that’s what they will do, and at each stage of the process, until there is nothing left but flapping empty wallets.
So far, yeah. But if he’s staring down the barrel of 18-to-22 with no plea deal, I wonder whether his desperation will lead to escalation.
No doubt. And he is definitely not willing to pay the ultimate price, or even a small price, for his beliefs. However, he’s more than happy to prod others to take those risks, on his behalf. Only the worthless and expendable little people get charged with sedition, insurrection, and other crimes that put them in prison and ruin their future.
You just don’t get it, do you? The FBI and DOJ have been and continue to be controlled by the radical left Deep State – even when headed by loyal Trump appointees! They stonewalled Trump’s brave attempts to prosecute Hillary and now are turning their globalist, antifa-loving forces against him.
Awesome image!
This is why I suggested above that AG Garland speak to some of those who have reputations for saying untrue things to support their tribe that an arrest of Trump is imminent and that they (the Department of Justice) is concerned about misinformation, and about inciting rebellion/riots.
Just remind Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and others that they are arresting a former President of the United States for breaking laws and that they are concerned about anyone at all encouraging anything other than peaceful, unarmed protests at the most. That if any one of them tells their audience or constituency to take up arms against the government – or in support of Donald Trump, and if armed people show up and commit violence the talking head will be immediately arrested and charged with inciting a riot or a rebellion.
You could not (or should not) do this with people like Steve Bannon or Alex Jones because they would LOVE to be arrested for supporting Trump and would be able to make money over it and be able to spin it so low information (possibly low cognitive ability) listeners would believe them. But tell those who are supposed to be respectable that they are welcome to criticize and demean the DOJ- - but that their freedom of speech ends the moment they encourage others to break the law and that they will be prosecuted to the very fullest extent of the law no matter how it looks to rank and file Republicans.
In this area the usual suspects must be whiter than rice with no dog whistles or any room for ambiguity. All protests must be unarmed and completely peaceful. The left is just looking for us to look like an unruly mob and we cannot allow that to happen. Something like: “We need to show the left that WE can have peaceful protests unlike the ones they staged last Summer.”
Make them put skin in the game. If they incite anything other than an absolute demonstration of decorum – criminal charges! Hopefully they would show the good sense to behave themselves in that case.
I was thinking more that they would be marching in some sort of parade and someone watching says something similar to what we have been saying – that they are comedy, a parody playing at soldier, and after the fifth or sixth time they hear it one of them loses his cool and runs over and beats the mocker with his short little baton. His comrades also break ranks and attack the crowd, the crowd reacts badly and soon the play soldiers have engaged a whole crowd and several people have to be hospitalized.
I hate to keep bringing up this example but if these people are there, and they are marching their little formation, bad stuff could happen. But what I want to say is that Kyle Rittenhouse took an assault rifle to place of unrest and conflict. Who could have possibly predicted that the protesters might not have welcomed him, or that he might shoot someone? Oh, that would be everyone.
Even groups as lame as this one, just by showing up have escalated any conflict and no single – or even couple of protesters would be a match for them. If they decide to go for it- they would hurt people!
I completely agree. The Republican leaders and RNC chair should be fully briefed before charging Trump.
Give them time to shift position. At least say they fully support the investigation and will wait for the process to complete. They can still offer lukewarm support to Trump if they want.
But, wouldn’t briefing them be the same as just announcing the charge is immanent, thereby giving everyone time (and reason) to prepare, and not in the way you are thinking? IMHO they should be warned about their words now, even before anything definite has occurred.
Jan 6 should make them realize words matter. But who knows what these people may say.
Seeing Liz Cheney defeated is a strong message that crossing Trump brings consequences.
I love this typo. Yes, I agree that the charge would indicate the presence of the divine in the material world.
You’re correct. It’s not appropriate, and it is never going to happen. It’s magical thinking on a ridiculous scale to believe otherwise.
The DOJ never speaks except through their arrests, filings and indictments. Merrick Garland is a stickler for adherence to protocols. There is no way anyone gets any warning – exactly as was done when they executed their search of Mar-A-Lago. “Hi, we’re here!”
If we’re going that route, I’d compare him to Jim Jones. I honestly believe many of his followers would happily follow him to live in a commune in another country. I absolutely think his followers would murder politicians and reporters trying to see what’s going on there. And I don’t have any problem believing his followers would knowingly drink cyanide-laced Flavor Aid if he told them to.
Maybe all the Trump supporters will move with him to Hungary. It’s a white supremacist paradise. Or maybe Russia. They can find out what living under an actual dictator is like.
If the protest at Mar-a-Lago over the search warrant is any indication, a teapot may be too big for this tempest.
You know Joey, you’ve got one hell of a good idea there.
Maybe we can suggest to Trump that he buy an island and decamp with his followers to it. He can charge them admission and everything. He gets an absolute dictatorship filled with nothing but adoring masses where 100% of the “tax” revenue is his to keep, and we get rid of 50-100 million idjits. And we get rid of Trump.
Win-Win-Win!!

If you’re right and the cops will overwhelmingly support fascists, then we’ve already lost.
They do and we have.
The FBI warned about white supremacists infiltrating law enforcement in 2006.

If he is charged, regardless of what for, he won’t be arrested (even though some think he is a flight risk, and that may be true). This is a class issue, most prominent or rich people aren’t held in jail pending trial.
Apparently (as per CPR news) Fani Willis, DA of Fulton County, GA is going after Trump and his team under RICO for interfering in an election. I suspect there will be charges filed.
Trump - Doing everything he can to turn a purple state blue.

Trump - Doing everything he can to turn a purple state blue.
But as long as the folks running the elections and counting the ballots are red, so will their statehouse, governor, federal congressional delegation, and presidential electoral college delegations be.
Fani may be putting up a good fight, but outside Fulton County itself, she’s probably not ordinary Georgians’ favorite public servant.

Maybe we can suggest to Trump that he buy an island and decamp with his followers to it.
I bet we could get Denmark to loan Greenland to him for a little while, for the greater good.
As an aside, maybe left-wing “hacktivists” would do something to interfere with “Truth” Social. (Not advocating any illegality here, just saying it could happen.)
