imho, this brings up an interesting point regarding these type of teleporters. in the past, no small amount of people have indicated that they are more than willing to use teleporters; yet here we are, with only a few viewing it as masturbation.

if you’re not comfortable enough to view that copy as yourself and give, well, yourself a little massage; why are you comfortable enough to give up your own life for it?

That’s an interesting point. Are there any law review articles examining how the legal age of a human clone would be defined if such a clone were ever created? Also, who would go on the birth certificate as the clone’s parents? The cloned person’s parents? The DNA donor/clonee themself? Would they be legally classified as a foundling/orphan with no known parents? If a cloned person dies intestate, would the person they were cloned from be eligible to inherit? What about the other way around? Does my clone have a claim to my estate? What if my devious ex-wife makes a clone of me against my will in order to swipe what would have been her share of my estate?

This is one of the “SF” law scenarios that is probably closest to actually happening - the resistance is now more political and social than a lack of science and technology development/capacity. After all, we can clone sheep and sheep aren’t that different from humans…
