If you could choose where to live in GoT

I have been rereading the books of Game of Thrones. Seems like it could be pretty hard to stay alive someimes.

So if yould choose where to live where would it be? At this point I’m thinking of the Free city of Braavos. Good food, religiously tolerant and somewhat away from the rest of the “game”

I’m re-reading as well about 40% the way through.
Likely High Garden
Maybe too many ways to die in Braavos.

“Sansa, would you like to visit Highgarden?” When Margaery Tyrell smiled, she looked very like her brother Loras. “All the autumn flowers are in bloom just now, and there are groves and fountains, shady courtyards, marble colonnades. My lord father always keeps singers at court, sweeter ones than Butters here, and pipers and fiddlers and harpers as well. We have the best horses, and pleasure boats to sail along the Mander.

Highgarden is beautiful and fertile, but I chose Braavos because it’s not got Tyrells.

Dorne, and be careful not to piss anyone off.

The wine islands in the south. Beautiful climate, remote from wars and wine. Also wine.

This was my thought, but perhaps it would be too hard to stay on the right side?

Highgarden is a good shout.

Oldtown seems nice. Do we get to say when as well as where? That seems important.

I’ve read all the books, watched every episode of the show as well. I can’t think of a place that I’d like to live. It’s all very unstable and dangerous. If you’re not a noble you are just a thing that nobles can do anything they want to, and if you’re a noble you are constantly trying to fend off people trying to stab you in the back (either figuratively or literally) while also trying to do whatever you can to get ahead of everyone else.

All that being said, if I had to choose a place, I’d pick the Vale. It’s pretty isolated due to its geography and anyone living there mostly has to worry about disorganized tribes trying to rebel against House Arryn (without any real success); they don’t get threatened much by outside forces. The valleys between the mountains are very fertile and make great farmland. It seems relatively quiet and pleasant compared to most of the other lands detailed in the stories.

I thought about that but didn’t in the end choose it because the Arryns are in the game.

True, but assuming I’m not an Arryn, I don’t think it would affect me.

I do like Braavos though. It’s a pretty cool place and wealthy and powerful. I guess if I was rich (like a merchant) it would be really nice.

I’ll take my chances north of the Wall.
