If You Own The Zalman Model ZM-RS6F USB Surround Sound Headphones....

… you may already know this: there isn’t a driver compatible with Windows 7 and the company (at last check) doesn’t know when (or if) there will be one.

I’m not as technically savvy as you all, but from what I read the driver (s) used on these phones share the same “across the board” problem with other devices, and those of us who bought them to use for gaming are just SOL as well as the money we spent.

If anyone who has these headphones knows of a driver update that will fix this, I’d sure appreciate a link.

I would also appreciate any recommendations you may have as to a suitable replacement.

Thanks

Quasi

Hope this helps a little. And I hope I’m not giving you anything you’ve already tried.

D_Odds,

Once again a Doper has come to my rescue and saved me from a lot of grief and expense, thank you!

So you won’t think me a complete idiot (:)), I did go to that download site, but instead of choosing the beta, I chose the one below it, which did nothing at all except freeze up my machine. I then went to their forum and read all about the windows 7 driver issue, and thought to myself, “Well, there ya go, Bill. You’re screwed”, and didn’t even do the beta download at all. I have since installed the beta driver successfully and the headphones are working fine now.

I also watched the YouTube clip you included in your links and found that I was using the wrong settings (the instruction manual is woefully inadequate in this regard), reset everything to the guy’s recommendations, and the sound is better than ever before, and I’ve had these things going on 2 years now.

So once again, a Doper proves his (her) mettle and reinforces my belief that membership here is one of the best choices I have ever made in my life.

Thanks very much for taking the time to help me with this, D_Odds!

My pleasure.

Every Zalman manual is poorly designed and often inadequate, but their products are usually well designed (though I’ve never used anything from them that needed a driver).
