…then what exactly is the point of wearing a tie that’s exactly the same color?
I am not the fashion police. Quite far from it, actually. But this bothers me.

Ask Regis
I guess the same reason secretaries where white running shoes and nylons/skirts…it’s a crazy world man.
Guaranteed it matches?
Colorblind?
Too lazy to pick out a creative tie?
No imagination?
Just a moron?
Running shoes are far more comfortable than ‘normal’ shoes to go with skirts/nylons. Also, several desk job people I know go running/walking on their lunch breaks.
Function and comfort.
As for same colored ties, I have no clue. Maybe they feel the tie is shy and likes to blend in? Its hunting and trying to camoflage itself so it can steal paperclips better than the non camoflaged version and thus survive longer?
Because he wants to see how annoying he can be.
And yes . . .
get ready . . .
you ready for this?
Okay, you asked for it . . .
that is my final answer.
Hey, I love this fashion. Many guys do. We never have to worry “Does this tie go with this shirt…”
As far as women wearing running shoes and skirts, as much as I love women in heels, I am told they are very uncomfortable to walk any distance in. Therefore, I know a lot who carry dress shoes but wear sneakers. Makes sense to me. Some guys, too.
If the shirt and tie are both white, I think that might be a bit dull. But if they are blue, or green or another color that comes in shades, it could be pretty hep.
Then again, I’m colorblind, so it’s all a matter of taking someone else’s word for it.
I think it is just Regis trying to be a trend setter. Myself, a bolo tie of silver with an elk, worn with a wrangler shirt and a wool pendleton jacket. It is not a New York type attire, but, I am not in New York.
Because the only reading material in your apartment is a four-year-old copy of GQ?
More importantly, what exactly is the point of wearing a tie? Where did this peice of clothing come from? Who thought it would be a nifty idea to tie a length of cloth in a knot around one’s throat, and allow a couple of feet of it to hang down the front of one’s shirt?
The look was decided on by the show’s producers, who wanted a look that says “rich”. I can’t really say it looks bad, but I’ve always been a fan of the idea that the aesthetic purpose of a tie is to provide the color and contrast in an otherwise boring ensemble. To use a tie the same color as the shirt is to waste this opportunity. I see the tie as an integral part of a suit, if only due to its lack of any practical purpose.
This doesn’t have much to do with why people wear solid color shirts and ties. However, I did buy a matching metallic gold shirt and tie a while ago. I thought it would look cool with my black suit, and it does. However, when I wear it now, people call me Regis. Stupid Regis Philbin.

Looks stupid. Wear comfortable boots and be done with it.
