Ignorant Douches Who Get Japanese (or other) Tattoos

Tattoos are mandatory in the armed services these days? Can you get them lasered off after you leave the service?

Well, I do, here is a whole family “inflicting” it on us.

Nope, tatts look bad on broads.

You simply must be trolling now.

You think “kosher” = “mandatory?” Thou art truly ignorant.

You ever seen a chick and said “wow, she’d be hotter if she just had some mass of ink injected across the bridge of her ass?” Your answer should be no.

OK, cretin it is then. You win. You’re too stupid to be a troll.

Leaving my own aesthetic sensibilities to the side for a moment, I was referring to your use of the loaded word “broad”, which you have to know will just needlessly stir shit up.

Ad hominem attacks are the white flag of debates, douchebag.

Hey, I love chicks.

I’m not attacking your argument. I’m attacking you. If you believe that the picture you linked is evidence of people going out in public and inflicting hairstyles on others, then you’re stupid. If you further believe that *any *hairstyle is a personal assault against you, then you are too stupid for words, and too stupid to be a troll.
FWIW, you flew the ad hominem flag many posts ago.

How DO you get 50 pounds of hypocrisy in a 10-pound bag like that?

Probably pictures of them - referring to women as “chicks” and “broads” is not the best way I know to get any to spend any time with a guy.

You are sad.

No, just wondering why tattoos are somehow acceptable in the military but nowhere else. I thought there might be some new procedure whereby soldiers are tattooed for identification purposes or something. Otherwise I don’t see what the difference is.

If you’re using the term “kosher” in the literal sense, then I think you’re mistaken. Jewish tradition makes no exception for military service. Tattoos are never considered kosher. Soldiers with tattoos are just as much an abomination in the eyes of God as anyone else with tattoos.

“Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.” --Leviticus 19:28

She DIDN’T say she could tell by looking. She said:

She didn’t say she could tell by looking…maybe she can tell through conversation with the person, for instance…like if the person tells the story that they had to ask on a message board what the character for a certain word is!

She didn’t say that, either. Where do you think she said that? All she said was that she was entitled to have an opinion about it.

I don’t see the difference, really. Her impression is that the person is a wanker. At least she’s polite enough not to tell the person to their face.

But I’ll let Rubystreak defend herself if she feels she wants to…she’s more than capable. For myself, I’ll just say that I think it’s crazy to have to get a word translated into a language you don’t know, so you can get it tattooed on your body. Why not pick a language that means something to you, as well?

How the fuck is it your business if I form an opinion of your tattoo? As long as I’m polite to you and don’t inflict my unsolicited opinion on you, then I still have the freedom to think whatever I want. The arrogance YOU display by deigning to tell me what to think in the privacy of my own mind, or post to the Pit when the topic is at hand, is pretty astounding. I don’t like kanji tattoos. It ain’t hard to figure out if a person knows anything about Asian culture. My best girlfriend and my SIL don’t speak a word of Chinese or Japanese, but they both have kanji tattoos. I think it’s a lame cop-out choice for a tat, but whatever makes them happy. They don’t know I think that because I love them and my opinion was not requested, but just between you and me, my feeling is  at both of them for that choice.

BTW, I don’t hate all tattoos nor hate or look down on the people who have them. My fiance, my brother and his wife, and my two best friends all have them. I don’t particularly like every tattoo that each of them has, but I love them, so I keep my opinions to myself. I still have my opinions, though. You can do as much about that as I can do about their tats-- exactly fucking nothing.

I think you’ve approached the stupidness more than adequately already.

It’s hard to tell which comes first: your disdain for tattoos or your need to have your opinion be the only one that matters (as if  ).

Got it. If you don’t speak the language, you know nothing of the culture. I wondered how you could make such snap judgments. Now I know. Keep it simple, stupid. Don’t let those pesky nuances get in the way.

Thanks for fighting my ignorance. No need to bother thinking about how the rest of the world lives until I can speak a few hundred more languages.

I’m not going to take a position on tattoos in general, but I do call bullshit on them being “for yourself”. Quite obviously, the reason one would want to alter ones appearance is so that others can see it. I seriously doubt people get tattoos just so they can stand alone in front of the mirror and say, “Gee, I sure like looking at my tattoo.” Especially if it’s on your back, where you can’t even see it yourself.

This is in the same category as women who dress sexy or wear makeup “for me”. No, it’s not for you - don’t lie.

What the hell are you talking about? If you don’t speak the language, why get the language tattooed on your body? What pesky nuance am I missing here? Clearly you can enlighten me and fight my ignorance. Please do so, without calling me “stupid,” lest you seem no better than the frothing idiot you’ve gotten yourself all worked up against in this thread.

Neither my SIL or my friend know jack shit about Asian culture. They are not Asian, and it’s not special to them per se, they just wanted a symbol for “star” and “cat” respectively, but apparently did not want a picture of an actual star or cat, for reasons that I cannot quite fathom. I think it’s a silly, trendy, pretentious choice by two otherwise lovely people. And while it’s none of my business and therefore I only discuss it in private on semi-anonymous message boards, I still have an opinion about it. I continue to reserve that right even though it offends you.
