Ignorant naive newbie beginner questions about video games, sports, and other games

esports problem going mainstream is they don’t produce crossover stars. I’m sure there are “stars” within the community, but how do you sell them to Joe Public? First, you’re going to have to explain to them what League of Legends or Dota are, and you’ve lost 97% of people right there.

Sometimes I regret abandoning PC gaming years ago. The amount of games available on Steam is intriguing. I just got sick of having my system be not quite good enough for the latest big game after I already spent tons of money on it.

I have only once bought a video card strategically for an upcoming game, but that was due to my existing card being over ten years old, so it was past due. Now, not only does almost any current card more than cope with any game, but you can set so many display options to cater to your system that still look mighty good, so it’s barely an issue unless you’re a picky gamer nerd (but those folk are in their own world).

I get the sense that a lot of gamers are making a living streaming themselves playing games on twitch, YouTube, etc.

This rule has been in place now for long enough that I think it’s reasonable to expect everyone to be aware of it by now, and so I’m going to make this an official Warning.

…Sorry. :flushed: (I actually kind of like the show, so I’d best leave it alone anyway.)
