IHOP to IHOB

Some news articles are saying IHOP is changing its name to IHOB. I guess Pancakes in the full name is being changed to Breakfast. But they should also realize they are not a House, they are a restaurant. And I see them as more U.S. than international. So how about “Restaurant of Breakfast, U.S.” Could anything go wrong there?

Or IROB? Maybe iROB?

No, no, no, it’s “House” as in:

From Google:
A family or family lineage, especially a noble or royal one; a dynasty.
noun: House
“the power and prestige of the house of Stewart”

You may now chuckle.

They don’t really do dinner stuff much, do they? I say they become Breakfast, Lunch, Or Brunch.

^ House of BLOB?

If I say “Hey, lets go down to IHOB!” everyone is going to think I have as stuffed nose.

Do branding name changes EVER help?

ROB-US ---------- I thought that was governments job?

Finally realizing microbrews are here to stay? International House of Brew?

(Back during Army Reserve days, we called it International House of Prayer and went there for Sunday ‘services’ - or so we told our sergeant…)

KFC?

I first saw it this morning as a friendly tweet to the B-team on WWE, made up of Curtis Axel (Joe Hennig, son of Curt Hennig) and Bo Dallas (Taylor Rotondo), both third generation wrestlers, who are comedy tag team wrestlers who are enjoying a brief and funny push.

In other words, a joke.

My memory is fuzzy.

Was IHOP the place that used to have over a dozen varieties of pancakes? Including silver dollar pancakes?

I remember a chain like that from childhood. My dad loved that place. Blueberry pancakes, pecan pancakes, banana, even coconut pancakes.

These days there’s nothing special about ihop pancakes. They are just as good at Denny’s.

It would have helped Sambo’s, if anything could.

“House”? That is so downmarket. They should become Senators’ Popular Quisine Restaurant. Or Senators’ Cafe of the Ultimate Meal. Next door to the brew pub called Senators’ Most Excellent Grog Made in America.

But at least KFC was a common shorthand way to refer to Kentucky Fried Chicken, just like IHOP is a shorthand way to refer to International House of Pancakes. I live right next door to an IHOP and they just refurbished the place including a new sign.

This change seems stupid to me, everyone over 6 knows they have other food besides pancakes. Their omelette are quite good.

Their menu is trying to be international.

This news article about the viral campaign says that the change is not to “IHOB” but to “IHOb”, and I think the clue concerns that last “P” being inverted to a “b”.

When I was a kid, they used to give out these little spring-loaded kangaroos. You’d push them down on the table & then they would [del]spring[/del] hop up.
Get it - I (the kangaroo) hop.
What animals HOb?

Seriously?? Next, you’ll be telling me that Taco Bell has other food besides tacos.

And that Red Lobster has other food besides lobster.

And Olive Garden has food besides olives.

And Applebee’s has food besides apples.

And Hooters has food.

Then it’s the pancakes that are international, not the house: HOIP. Or with my other suggested changes: ROIB.
