I'll just let you in on a little secret.

Oh, don’t I know it. Been here two weeks and already loving the place. There is an unusual number of intelligent witty people here. No I’m not sucking up. Honest! I have just have been through a whole string of message boards that make you wonder about humanity at times.

I’m not disappointed in anyone. I felt like they were being to hard on you and said so. Then read posts that demonstrated that I didn’t have the whole picture so I backtracked. To be honest, it was just a newbie foible. I was trying too hard not to step on toes before I got the feel of the place. Give me two more weeks and I’ll post my opinion and will stick to it, backlash be damned.

I’m willing to give you a fresh start. So far you haven’t done anything that isn’t a reflection of your youth (said like my 24 years oh so much older than your 19). Several people over at the BBQ seem willing to do the same. So just sit back, don’t worry about it. You’ll see that people have short memories about this sort of thing. For those that hold a grudge, screw 'em. I doubt anything you say on threads like these would change their minds anyway. So go post on some non The Urge-centric threads and let things cool down.

Oh and everyone, call me Beaker. beakerxf is just a convenient login name because it’s never taken.

By the way, for those who missed it, Mr. Astounding has, indeed, lost both of his screen names. Rumor has it he won’t be coming back… for the second time.

Sad - I thought he might have actually learned something. Ah, well…

Did any of you happen to go read OgreFade/TheUrge/Oscar’s homepage? I feel sorry for the boy - he appears to have some serious personality/emotional problems (read his rants page). From what I read, someone close to him is worried that he might commit suicide and he has been recommended for psychiatric counseling.

I suspect he’s not the brightest star in the sky, led a very sheltered life, and isn’t coping with college too well. Doesn’t have many (or any) friends and doesn’t know how to make them/keep them.

He certainly appears to have problems with feelings of inferiority, and tries to compensate by adopting an arrogant attitude. He’s also a big guy who is probably used to getting some respect and/or fear IRL based on his size, which has also hampered his development of social skills.

Oscar, if you do read this, please follow through on the counseling thing. Understanding and accepting yourself as you are is the first step to making the most of yourself. Don’t try to be what you are not, don’t try to be like anyone else, just be the best YOU that you can be. You have good qualities and you have short-comings, but everyone does - none of us are perfect (except maybe Cecil :slight_smile: ). Learning your limitations AND what you excel at, and becoming more comfortable with yourself, will help a lot with your shyness problem.

And don’t get discouraged about college not going well at first. A lot of people are overwhelmed at first because college is often MUCH different from what they expected. Just slow down, back off, take a break. Figure out what you can and cannot handle as far as classes and studying, get your priorities straight (studying before partying, etc.) and get back in there and give it another shot. Believe me, it gets easier as you learn your way around.

God is love. Love is blind. Ray Charles is blind. Therefore, Ray Charles is God.

OgreFade chatted me up last night online.

{sigh}

He just doesn’t get it. Evidently, we hate him and “made” TubaDiva ban him. He also feels we haven’t truly heard what he has to say. He has not understood anything we’ve tried to teach him back.

Chalk him up as a hopeless cause I guess. I’d hoped for better. Ah, well.

Evidently, I rock.
