What could be the reason for me suddenly growing hair on my arms. I have traditionally been a low hair person. But now my arms are getting black arm hair - i did have some light hair blond as my hair.
Dont worry there is not much hair – just noticably more and darker.
It may well be due to hormonal changes, such as the ratio of testosterone to estrogen, as you age. (While testosterone is dominant in men and estrogen in women, both sexes have some of both hormones.) Without information about your sex we can’t say much more.
Some people have suggested that my head is on upside down.
But generally speaking my arms and legs have much less hair than I used to. I learned from this thread that diabetes might be the cause. It doesn’t seem to have affected my beard though.
When I was in my early twenties, I had a real fur on my legs and an almost bald chest and belly. Just as my leg hair receded, the chest and belly became hairier and hairier, and now at 52 my legs are partially bald, but I sport a pretty fur on my chest/belly. And let’s not talk about facial hair: the hair I lost on my skull reappeared in my ears and nose…
The only thing that didn’t change was the density of my beard, but it went from almost black to almost completely grey.
I remember I was once surprised to notice fine blonde hair growing on my forearms when I was used to them being smooth. Once I thought about it I realized that for years I had almost always worn long sleeves, and the hair was fine enough that it just was abraded away. But that summer had been quite warm, and I had not put on the cardigan part of my sweater twinsets (my typical work “uniform”) in weeks, so the hair grew out. Could this be a factor for you?
