I guess I’m the only who’s noticed that Republicans have been in control of Congress of late.

You guys got money? Like, printed bills, and coins? Thought you just traded beads and beaver glands. Well, son-of-a-gun!
What is a beaver gland worth, these days?
Two hogsheads of maple syrup.
Trump could absolutely result in protectionist legislation. Free trade needs champions right now. He’s the opposite of that.
And there are surprisingly few check and balances on a President and war. “Clear and present danger” and all that. The button is designed to be easy to push.
Yep. You’re the only one.

People keep saying this, but we’re talking about a man who has no understanding of how the government is supposed to operate, much less any trace of respect for anything that keeps him from getting what he wants the instant he wants it – and he’s backed by millions of frothing-at-the-mouth crazies.
If you think Donald Trump is going to respect any check or balance that impedes one of his harebrained whims, you’re kidding yourself – and if the Republicans retain control of Congress and the House, they will be all too eager to assist him in tearing down the system. They know they are losing the culture war, and this could be their last chance to forcefully cling to any meaningful power and influence. They WILL cooperate with him, if it comes to that.
This is not hyperbole. Look at Nazi Germany. Look at the Iranian Revolution of the 1970s – Iran went from one of the more progressive countries in the Middle East to a backwards, fundamentalist hellhole very quickly. Anyone who thinks it can’t happen here is a fool. Trump getting elected could easily be the first domino in a chain that leads this country to some very, very dark and ugly places.
Mississippi?
[Buzz Lightyear]
“Mississippi. Mississippi Everywhere.”

May Republican Congressmen did not endorse him. I hope they would continue to disagree with him.
Checks and balances from the supine, feckless GOP “leaders” that have acquiesced to Trump? Have you not been watching this election?
I’m noticing a disturbing trend of Republicans saying they will not endorse him…but they will either go ahead and vote for him anyway or won’t say how they will vote.
Listen, fuckwads-If you say publically that you are voting for Trump, that is pretty much the same thing as saying you endorse him, and you aren’t fooling anybody.
These are the same people who were willing to shut down the government rather than pass a routine increase on the debt ceiling, and who are now refusing to even discuss the merits of a by-all-accounts centrist supreme court nominee. I’m afraid your hopes are ill-placed on this matter. Some of them are reasonable people, but that element has been marginalized by the fundies and the rest of the whackjobs.
Even the guy that signed the civil rights bill into law didn’t believe in civil rights.
How do you figure? We just had a black President for two terms that nearly half America voted into office. Another half are about to vote for his successor, Hillary. How does that support anything you just said?
Or is it that if given the choice between a minority or a female, whenever the vote goes against the minority or female, that is itself racist and sexist?
How truly bizarre. Naive. And foolish.
The only radical angry anything I see are what you suppose will happen if we dare elect a white man. Apparently any other choice we’re golden, it just can’t be a white guy.
Only a few days ago I was reading a poster lament how as a white man he felt under attack from the left. Your post is a pretty good example why. We’re racists and sexists unless we vote for women and minorities.
And here I got warned for telling someone that. Guess you’re working under those exclusive privileges you’re so adamant are all around and invasive.
That’s funny!
Or it’s like being in The Walking Dead, except with more baseball caps.
You were explicit. You had a specific target. You are allowed, grudgingly, to be a carpet-bomber, but not a sniper. My understanding of it, anyway.
Is Trump even among the top 1000 most successful businessmen in America, 1985-present? Since he has no public- or military-service record, or even a graduate degree, his biggest qualification to be president seems to be how loudly he says he WANTS to be president.
Well you better hope this baby boomer stay around longer b/c there is no way in HELL I would had voted for Trump ! Not all baby boomers think the same ! I am sick of generalization a group of people !
