Cold and rainy day. I had a great lesson on Miss A. Provisioned at The Mart of the Wal to the tune of $140. Just finished a late lunch/early supper of scallops, N.O.T, and a steamed artichoke. Watching Dirty Harry on the teevee.
mmmmmm - scallops!!
Laundry is done, carrots are cooking, and meatloaf is almost done. I foresee a yummy supper.
The General didn’t get his supper thanks to OYKW. Tomorrow is brunch Sunday over to the church house. I have a corn casserole in the oven. I was goin’ to make some tea but there’s plenty on hand so no need for that.
ETA: My dawgs just finished eatin’ some wild game chikin.
It’s raining! I didn’t know it was supposed to rain, but there ya go.
Sad lack of chocolate in this house. Very sad.
Nut Happy “Things Go Bang” Day.
I am supposed to roast a chikkie for din-din, but am currently sitting here and eating candy instead. Lately I love candy. Mmmmm.
Worked, came home. Watched State lose. Hoping the Canes don’t or there ain’t gonna be any liver left in my cirroshis. Making smokey tequila chicken tacos for dinner,
Yaya music! And the end of one coffee is the beginning of a new one.![]()
Happy “go bang” weekend, Nut!
It’s …
ELMER SEASON !!!
Shhhhhh – be wary wary quiet ---- we’re hunting Elmers.
Now that I have that out of the way ------ today we saw the 25th and possibly last Night of the Singing Dead hosted by “Hugh Hefner” and “Roger Moore” and starring great acts who died this last year being badly impersonated by the usual gang of suspects and including some inanimate objects like a GI Joe (since his creator died) and the local man who invented the Big Mac singing – of course – Grease. As always it was in slightly poor taste and funny as all heck. One thing of distinction this year “J Geils” was in the show and in real life he actually did appear on the exact stage as today just a couple years back. In all the years of this Holiday Tradition this is the first time that has actually happened although they did come close a time or two in the past – just always “just missed” as the various venues closed or they moved the show.
Only two of the three creators are left and there really is serious doubt if they will carry it on in the future. Twenty-five years is a good run for something like this down on pretty much no budget just by a circle of friends having fun. One of the reasons it started was hopes that they could write Keith Richards or Yoko Ono in and here it is all these years later and they are both doing fine enough to make it onto Swampy’s Death Pool list. Although they did work Yoko in once ------- the theme was “The After-Lifetime Achievement Awards” and she got the one for “Wishing You Were Here”.
We’ve seen 17 of the 25 and if it does end I’ll understand but miss it.
Like chain-smoking, but with coffee? ![]()
Though if I have more than about one and a half cups of coffee in the same session, I get pretty wired/wild.
Went to a lovely jazz concert tonight. I knew a couple of people in it. A well-known flugelhorn player was one of the soloists. And it was right in my neighbourhood, just a short walk from where I live!
Fugelhorn jazz? The world wonders.
The flugelhorn is mostly a jazz instrument, rarely used in classical music. It’s like a mellower version of the trumpet.
As a horn/trumpet/brass player I’ll second that to a large degree although there are some folks who play more band and orchestral style on the flugal. Not so much on this Continent but --------
Ruble I didn’t know you played brass! My hubby is a trombone player (and keyboard, and few other things, but his first love is trombone). Do we have enough MMP musicians to start a band?
I’m having a craptastic evening. Here’s hoping tomorrow will go better. {{{hugs}}} to all
Canes lose to the worst team in the League. Oy.
I resemble that remark. ![]()
Home 21+ hrs later. I could use that extra hour of sleep tonight.
Chuck Mangione
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 58 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 84 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Plans for the day are deheathenization followed by brunch at the church house. The corn casserole I made needs to cook a little longer, fifteen minutes I’d say, because I made it bigger than usual. Thus I shall need to preheat the oven and stick the casserole in there to finish up at some point. As for the rest of the day, who knows.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then casserole bakin’ and purtification must commence at some point. Rah.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
The extra hour gave me extra time for bizarro dreamland. Among the cast of characters: Robert DeNiro (in his younger days), one of those televangelist healers, a beached whale, swimming elephants, tsunamis, and a town where the only public bathrooms were at a public pool located a loooooooong walk from downtown. I’m sure there’s something profound in that mix… or I’m losing it for sure.
Most of our clocks are reset, I think. It’s going to take a while to recalibrate Higgs’ stomach. She seems to know when it’s 5PM, even if she gets breakfast later than normal. I expect around 4 this afternoon, she’s going to start making us crazy. Cats don’t care - they free-feed anyway.
Plans for today? Um, none. Afghaning, I guess.
Weatherwise - cloudy and 60s today, t-storms and low 70s tomorrow, then we’re thrust into November with a week of highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s. Maybe things are going to settle down on the climatological front.
Happy Sunday!
Got up a bit earlier than usual, perhaps due to the time change. I have an all-day rehearsal playing alto clarinet with the videogame orchestra, so I’m glad to get this extra hour, even if I’m just frittering it away online.
ruble, is this fascinating event a sort of el dia de muertow celebration?
sunny, if we’re putting together a Mumper band, put me in for keyboards, clarinet, percussion or vocals.
It warmed up enough here that I’ve opened up the apartment and turned on the ceiling fan. I really don’t want to switch back to AC, but if it gets much more humid, I might.
I took Nelson to the dog park yesterday where he got his zoomies out. If I get everything done today, we may go back for an hour or so.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Working a closing shift, since they are supposed to do the carpets today at work.
All my clocks except the microwave auto update, so I don’t have to worry about that.
