Well we knew it – circle the wagons, blame a ‘technical glitch’, cover up for Marley23’s obvious overzealousness in his new position. That’s what they always do around here.

How do you admin/mods not know what happened? Isn’t there like an error log or something for the website somewhere?
We know that nobody could access the board for about two hours because apparently all IP addresses were banned. We don’t know why the addresses were banned. It wasn’t like a database error, for example.
Phew!
I rarely log in at work but had some downtime and decided to access SD on my BlackBerry. Imagine my surprise when I got the “you suck and you’re banned” screen.
I figured it was some sort of glitch, because I’m neither cool nor naughty enough to get banned. 
I used the “contact the webmaster” link when I thought my IP had been banned. Does this go to you, specifically, TubaDiva?

It was hardly a board at all.
I think this ban should be removed from my record.
It goes to webmaster mail … which is often forwarded to me. As in this case.
I’m currently looking at approximately 687 webmaster emails that I need to answer. I’ve just run out of time – I have to be out shortly – but I’ll come back and get in touch with everybody. I do want to make sure everybody is back on and okay.
It’s just part of what we have to do sometimes. To everyone who may have felt disregarded today, you aren’t, not really – I’ve just been swamped beyond what one person can do in 8 hours and I do apologize.

All we know for an absolute certainty is that it wasn’t a typing error by Marley23 who was modifying the ban list at the time. Everything else is a complete mystery.
Isn’t there some way of emailing everyone at once? I am almost sure GB did that once, or perhaps they really did send out individual emails.
If it’s any help, you have permission to skip mine. 
I’m just relieved to know I didn’t pick up some malware that was spammin’ the Dope from my computer.
