subtitled: “Things in thread notifications that really bug you.”
I’m being stalked by a thread. Sort of.
In order to not to overload my e-mail, I’ve turned off the ‘Use ‘Email Notification’ by default’ function in my profile. This has worked for most threads where I can check the responses at my leisure, and no more clogged e-mail box.
Not so with the thread “Things in movies that really bug you”.
I am still getting e-mail notification that “<username> has responded …”. Only one other thread has been clamoring for my attention (“Return of the Princess Bride Jedi”), but that one seems to have calmed down.
I took Tubadiva’s advice and turned off the "Allow Bulletin Board Administrators and Moderators To Send You Email Notices?’ function also, but this thread is still sneaking through.
Mods? Administrators? What is happening here?
I recall this sort of thing happened to me a while back. I think the fix was to post in the thread again, this time with your email notification off.
I think the thread – in it’s earnest innocence – still longs to send you email, not realizing you have grown weary of it’s company. I think it’s best to go back to the thread, post one more time to rebuke it’s advances and tell it to get on with it’s life.
Everytime someone brings up Coldfire’s “May 5th” thread, I know about it via email.
The same thing’s been happening to me…
No, I don’t have anything worthwhile to post, why do you ask?
You should be all set now, screechie. I’ve turned off e-mail notification in all your posts to that thread.
Thank you very much, Uncle Beer.
It was getting a little creepy.
Okay, for future reference, simply posting a new reply to a thread doesn’t seem to have any effect. A moderator must edit each of a user’s posts in that thread and unselect any and all e-mail notification check boxes that were checked by the user.
