Question for Moderators/Knowledgable Dopers

I often check the “Email Notification” box to ensure I’ll check back later and read the rest of the replies to a post. What if I change my mind or get sick of the emails piling up in my inbox? Can I stop recieving emails without posting again? And sometimes when I DO post again, without checking the EN box, it STILL sends me emails. Why, oh why? My life is so unbearable like this! It makes me tear my hair out! ::weeps softly:: Help me, oh wise ones. Extend your omniscience to me!

::checks the “Email Notification” box once again with great misgivings::

This should be in the About This Message Board forum. . .

. . .and I have no idea.

You can e-mail a moderator or administrator and provide a link to the post where you check notification. We can turn it off for you.

And yes this is a question About This Message Board.

On the bottom of your email notification is this little notice,

There may be other replies also, but you will not receive any more
notifications until you visit the thread.

So if you don’t visit the thread from your email, you shouldn’t get any more notifications.

I think.

But doesn’t that kind of kill the point of notification, if you don’t go back to the thread?

I personally never use it. I don’t usually get on the boards during bad times, and if I really want to know what someone posted in a thread, I tend to remember it, or just do a search.

But that’s just me.

Actually, imthjckaz, I’ve held off visiting a thread, but continued to rack up many, many notifications (and still do. I just delete the e-mails rather than bothering a mod right now [actually, I’m too darned lazy to e-mail 'em right now]}.

And when I asked this question before, UncleBeer had the answer (very last post).
