After scrolling through a gazillion (well, 100-some) topics and coming upon one I’d posted a week ago, I discovered there were two replies, but I hadn’t gotten e-mail notification. Now, on one thread I had responded to, I did uncheck the e-mail notification as I’d lost interest and didn’t want to keep getting notified, but on topics and other replies, I made sure the box was checked. Does unchecking on one thread affect the others?
The admins have turned that option off. There are a couple of threads to that effect further down.
Correct. It’s turned off. Might be turned back on at some time in the future, but it was used to annoy and harass our members and we’re determined not to let that happen if we can do anything about it.
We apologize for not being able to offer you that function; it’s yet another case of a few jerks ruining things for everybody.

I’m not sure I understand what’s going on. I got e-mail notification about the two replies above. How are some posters abusing this – posting a lot with not much to say just to bug people? Can’t the abusers be kicked off the board? As I mentioned before, when I kept getting e-mails about threads I’d lost interest in, or there were just too many replies, I just unchecked the box. I agree with another poster here about how inconvenient it is to NOT have e-mail notification for those of us who can’t spend a lot of time on here – we have to scroll down pages and pages trying to find our topics or posts to see if there are replies.
Many people (some of them not even members of this board) were spammed with email they did not know about or request.
It’s become such a problem that we had no choice but to turn all the email notifications off.
We’re sorry for your inconvenience, it infuriates us that we can’t offer you little amenities like that due to the bad acts of others.
