We’ve also had “?” and “.”, and a few other 1-digit ones.
All got banned, as I recall, but FormerlyKnownAsBlank.

I really hate to be the funkiller here, but I need to quote some of the registration agreement atcha here:
We reserve the right to refuse postings from screen names we find objectionable.
We prefer that your name be more than 1 or 2 letters/numbers . . . and less than, say, a dozen. You can be infinitely creative in that if you but apply yourself.
So . . . “1” and “Some names are twentyfive,” please come up with new screen names. Send me email with your new names and I’ll change 'em in our database.

Besides, Some names are twentyfive, you’re only tied, at best. Nanook of the North Shore is also 25 characters.
And I’d also like to object to the long names. Since the template doesn’t break the “last post” column, the longer the names, the more squished the “thread title” column gets, which I find much more important.

You have lots of names longer than 12 and some short ones that have been registered both recently and long ago.
If that’s true, why would I have to change?
I’d really like to keep this one. I had a lot of fun choosing it. There’s people like Danielinthewolvesden who would hate to cut back to 12, I’m sure.
Besides, ayesha slandered this name, and I can’t use it any more.

Then he said he wanted to “discuss it” in the Pit, which is code for “I want to put TGIF in a noose, too, for daring to show I’m ever wrong.” Then got the tread locked so I couldn’t respond where he had started the discussion.
I was talking about you. I knew all you’d said to ayesha was to “lighten up”. Then she said she’d squick you to death, attacked you a few more times and THEN had the nerve to say you were “after her” when you said she had a “potty mouth”.
Once seven other “people” (read sharks in a feeding frenzy) started in on you, it sounded like you had said things THEY had really said.
But it’s just as well, because as UncleBeer stated, troll hunters never make mistakes (?!)
Besides, your attempt to start fresh with a cute long name just got shot down. You’d better start over a 3rd time, since “Sangria” and “Some…” will both be banned. (I assume “Some…” is already blocked from posting (“banned but not labeled banned”) or you would have used that name.
Having gone back to Sangria, you have just “proved” that you were a troll, or why would you want another name without changing the old one?
(For those who aren’t up on this, they tell you to change to a new name, but your old threads, complete with false troll accusations, come up in any search. NEVER ask for a name change to start over. It’s just asking for more troll hunters to follow you around, hijacking every thread you are on.)

I was just going to get Sangria changed, but I knew they would soon be after me again through their asinine “background checks”. Those people in the pit are just not fit company, any of them. They really aren’t part of the “Fighting Ignorance” idea at all, but more of the “Anything Goes As Long As Only Newbies Get Hurt” concept.

There IS a limit, and it’s 25, as Nanook of the North Shore found out.
But, TubaDiva would rather people sign on and THEN tell them there’s a limit. AND give them “48 hours” to clear their name! AND didn’t write to me. I might have skipped 48 hours and been branded a troll just for not seeing her “Warning”.
It seems every thing the mods say on this board is wrong.
I would bet they have never emailed anyone any notice anytime for any reason.
Yet they pretend they ALWAYS do. Why? To look like nice people than they are. Well, you can all get squicked by ayesha, but I’m not going to come back any time soon.
Sangria/Some names . . . , you seem to be spoiling for a fight. I’ve not been nasty to you, quite the opposite, in fact.
More of a deal than having a long name, however, is the fact that you have TWO user names at the same time.
Quoting from the registration agreement (which you should have read before you agreed to it, so it’s not like this is news to you):
Only one screen name is permitted per user. If you wish to change screen names please notify the webmaster and we will deactivate your old screen name. Use of multiple screen names is grounds for revocation of your right to post under ANY screen name. We reserve the right to refuse postings from screen names we find objectionable.
Regardless of your motivations (which are in doubt here, lemme tell you), this is NOT how you do things here . … and as someone who has been a member here for quite some time (I see you registered in May), you are doubtless aware of policy.
You seem to be here to fight the troll/troll hunter argument; that’s not an issue here. We debate, argue, and discuss nearly everything under the sun on this board, but setting board policy is not a matter for member jurisdiction. This is a private message board and we have the absolute right to set policy as we see fit, regardless of how you might feel about it.
And yes, I am removing posting rights to both these screen names until you tell me which one you wish to use. That’s ONE. Any further attempt to sign in under other screen names will result in all names being banned.

A couple of points: First off, if you play in the Pit, you will get flamed. I don’t want to get flamed, and that’s one reason I stay out of the Pit. I might suggest the same for anyone else who wants to stay uncooked. Secondly, it is possible to start fresh, without your past haunting you. Anyone remember Michael Masterson? He’s still with us, but reformed and under a different name-- and he isn’t followed around by the troll hunters everywhere that he goes. Sangria, yes, it is possible to get banned over a misunderstanding, and maybe it would have been possible for you to not see the board for a week. As soon as you come back, though, you can explain the situation to TubaDiva or another admin via e-mail, and have your posting priveliges restored, with no harm done, in the long run.
