YouTube has really gone downhill.
I don’t even mean how lots of content has been taken off for copyright. The whackos and spammers have moved in.
Used to be, I would type in “Daily Show” or “Colbert Report” and actually see clips from the shows. Now I see links for bikini girls and conspiracy theory nonsense that uses tags for the Daily Show and other popular stuff.
What a shame.
Didn’t you hear about Viacom requesting all their clips being taken down, then suing YouTube for $1 billion? This explains why you cannot see the daily show anymore on there.
Go to the “Top Rated” and they’re all either Japanese gameshows or soccer highlights with maybe a hockey fight or two.
I knew it would be too good to last. The only interest anyone has for it is as a sort of video Google, instant access to mountains of common & obscure videos. They need to do something because 99% of the, ahem, ‘original’ content on it (I mean people’s homemade stuff, not spam) is absolutely godawful worthless garbage.
You can watch Daily Show & Colbert Report clips at ComedyCentral.com. Their video player used to not work with my system, but they got a hint (it’s flash now) and it runs smoothly.
Unfortunately to see them I have to sit through ads for products I’m never going to buy in my life (vodka), but them’s the breaks.
If you think youtube has gone downhill, check out metafilter. Used to be interesting, fun, enlightening, stuck-up and trivial, but now it’s all links to youtube videos. Not even fark sunk so low.
I still enjoy watching AMVs (anime music video) on it.
