North Atlanta, it has to be about 25 degrees F here. And today of all days, where I don’t have to go to work (so I’m hanging around the house) THE GODDAMN FURNACE DIES. So here I am, bundled in a sweater, under a blanket, trying to keep toasty (one of my dogs is at my feet, that helps) until the furnace guy comes later today.
Why the fuck could it not have died in say, October!?!?!
Of course I have one dog going in for surgery tomorrow (he tore the ligaments in his leg) and will be gone for four days. Going to run about $1500. My other two dogs decided to fight over food last night (since I was a dumbass and didn’t put the new dog food bags in the closet like I should have). The older female had to get stitches in the emergency room at 9pm. That’s another $230 gone. I shudder to think what the furnace repairs are going to run for a Saturday call, but I’m thinking I’ll be living on bologna for a few weeks.
To make it just a bit worse, the missus will be flying out to Mexico City for three days on business Monday. It is in the high 70s there dammit. In the meantime I’ll be stuck home nursing injured dogs and praying the furnace doesn’t turn up the daisies again.
Not a very creative rant, but only rarely do I have days this shitty. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I hear ya! I’m in lower Alabama, and DAMN it’s been cold here!! I have two kids (ages 3 yrs. and 10 months) who are just getting over bronchitis and I and my 8 yr old have big fat colds. Yesterday, the wind chill was 3 degrees. It’s warmer (some) today–and at least I do have heat! Hope things look up for ya soon!
I don’t get it. When my roommate went to see her family for Christmas I deliberately turned off the heat and just wore several layers of sweatclothes, and it was nice and cozy. Am I nuts?
Oh, god, I would kill for 25 degree weather. It’s been in the single digits here. And Thursday it dipped below zero! (Plus there’s that “wind chill factor” thingie, which apparently brought the subjective temperature down below absolute zero or something like that.)
Well, the guy did come out to fix the furnace. It ONLY cost $150. Add to that, because of the fighting between our female dogs (their second fight, though over a three year period), we have been STRONGLY recommended by our regular vet (and the emergency vet from last night) to send the younger one to obedience training. She will be gone for four weeks starting in February, and that is going to cost us another $900.
Soooooo… anyone want to buy some plasma?
