I'm going to be an Uncle!

Woo Hoo!

Now that I’m free to tell people (I’ve known for three weeks now), why not be Mundane and Pointless, and announce it to the world?

My sister is preggers!

This is a good thing, because it fits in nicely with my philosophy of children, ie: they’re great if they’re someone else’s. In a few years, I’ll have a new excuse to go see kid’s movies or crappy movies, and someone to buy stuff for when travelling.

Also, kids are great for X-Mas gifts. Nothing like seeing the eyes light up when they get something neat or interesting. I can drop him/her off at home afterwards, and go on my way.

Life is good

Congrats, Lisa and Rav

Congrats, Mcott!

I’ve been an uncle for a few years to a number different kids (some blood, a couple not)… it can be a real joy and you can play an important role in their lives.

Being a dad’s pretty fun, too.

Enjoy!

Congratulations!

I’ve been “Aunt Jenny” to my best friend’s son for almost 5 years (which is how old he is). You’re going to love it.

Congrats, mcott. You will be an utterly cool uncle.

YAY!

What fun you can have with them!

Remember though.

Whatever you give to them, your sister can do to your kids when you have them.

Do you want to be a Good Uncle or Evil Brother?

Choose wisely.

Cause, as an Aunt, there is a mental thing I say every time my kids have birthdays and it is do Not fark with Aunt Shirley and if the presents are no appropriate…I will launch an offensive across the offenders bow that will make them poo their own pants. ( Revenge Toys ™ are a speciality of mine.)

Well, thanks for the replies.

One of my two really good friends is the manager of a “quirky” toy store. I get a staff discount. One can never get enough pleasure from magnetic poetry display stands if one puts up crude and amusing poems

Revenge toys are cool, but it’ll probably quite a while before my younger sister can get back at me, since I don’t plan on any offspring.

I’m just thinking museums, movies, free babysitting, and lots of gifts.

Oh, and Jen ( misnomer), DC museums are on the ticket. Some of the best in the world. Still planning on WAS in September, and my Mom is in SFO now, and will check again for the T-Shirt.

Matt

I share your philosophy on children. Great but if they are not yours you can hand them back when they get poopy or whiney.

Congrats! I need to get on my brother and sister in law about pumping out some neices and nephews for moi.
